Re: VGA Capture Thread

@vvbee: Finally got to try new version and got a few suggestions for vcs features. 1) something like a checkbox in output to fixed resolution, this is primarily for capturing by other software, seeing as most either handle windows size changing poorly or ignore at all. 2) allow to specify filtering …

Re: VGA Capture Thread

Strange, while I don't have signal cloned to another display I haven't noticed any perceivable lag from my E1S. But I'll try to grab a display later to check it. As for FPS what you see in diagnostics is video mode rate, syncing up rates between card and display that's G-Sync/Freesync stuff. Neither …

Re: VGA Capture Thread

Well, with VGA2HDMIPro any HDMI-capable capture card would do. I'd guess the woes of finding a working configuration is when you're trying to capture direct analog output and finding capture card not just capable of that but also compatible with weird quirks some of the old hardware had. I wasn't …

Re: VGA Capture Thread

Nope. What you need for VGA2HDMIPro is a HDMI capture card since the scaler unit outputs digital signal via HDMI. The good news most modern consumer capture cards do have HDMI input. Avermedia, Startech and Elgato (something like used elgato game capture hd) would do. I think I've seen some …

Re: VGA Capture Thread

Well, thanks a lot for the answers guys. I finally found a "cheap" StarTech Professional VGA to HDMI Video Converter, VGA2HDMIPRO. (http://bit.ly/2ovwh5a) I'm going to try my luck with it after watching some of Phil's videos on Youtube. I'll let you know with the result. AS I stated before, my idea …

Re: VGA Capture Thread

I presume the $20 ones are not the VisionRGB-E1, but something older? The cheapest one I can see on ebay is $50 + another $50 shipping. Anyway if I understand it right, the VisionRGB-E1 can capture resolution 1280x1024 / 1600x1200 / 1920x1080 / 1920x1200 at 60 fps using DVI or VGA? If so, it seems …

Re: VGA Capture Thread

Datapath cards are pretty cool for being professional hardware starting at $20 on ebay. I also like the fact that they expose their c api so you can write your own capture software. Yep, I'm also fiddling around rgbeasy API atm, mostly for debugging and figuring out what's going on with the signal …

Re: VGA Capture Thread

Hi Guys, I have been reading the whole thread and can't really figure out what would be the best for what I want to do. Any help would be highly appreciated. Basically I want to record gameplays from my Pentium 133mhz using a S3 Trio +64 and post them on youtube. I don't want to use emulation and …

Re: VGA Capture Thread

Figured out some sort of approach here. For DVI output built-in scaler in Nvidia cards can be disabled either by modifying BIOS or temporarily with NVSC. Use VisionRGB configuration utility to modify EDID, set custom preset and set preferred display resolution to a maximum resolution you intend to …

Re: VGA Capture Thread

@vvbee Yep, modified .vcp to default brightness/contrast values from rgbeasy. I have another question, perhaps you might know. There's VisionRGB configuration utility which provides some basic EDID editing, and I wonder if it's possible to modify it in such way not to tell preferred resolution to …

Re: VGA Capture Thread

Got it for VisionRGB-E1S. Card is detected and there's input, so far no problems. Brightness/contrast seem a little different from default setting in RGBEasy. Going to run through various odd mode games.

Re: VGA Capture Thread

Is the AV.io compatible for DOS resolutions? I can't find any information about that. Apparently not. I had asked Epiphan support about that a while ago and this was the answer: "The AV.io HD wouldn't be able to capture from your example resolution of 320x200 unfortunately. The lowest VGA signal …
