Re: Divide by zero & Boobia City

in DOS
Replacing DOS4GW with a newer version causes no effect. It actually breaks the batch files, which contain commands/switches for DOS4GW before execution. (ie DOS4GW v2.01a is not forward compatible with the commands/switches.) In fact, in Win98, the whole program crashes with: A fatal exception 0E …

Similar error message in Windows 98, Robo. Hmmm... I'll try it in Pure DOS when I get home tonight. (Note: The DOS4GW provided by "Boobia City" is v1.8.) And it -feels- to me like a homebuilt game. We'll see once/if I get it running.

Re: IRQ 2 seems to cause a mouse problem?

You're still going to need UHARC to extract it. And if you don't have UHARC (Current version: 0.4?), it's hard to find. Here's the error message I get when trying to run it under Windows XP: .äïÿâää Üÿüàçü 'ÜàëÆüü îàöëê' äÇÿ .2 'æÄ îàù æëêÿï ÜÇëéÖ I don't know what it means... To Colin: I don't know …

Re: Starship Titanic

Although, I'm surprised that I can't find a Mac port of "Basilisk II". It shouldn't be too hard to make a Mac version using the source. This is the best "all-around" Mac II emulator out there. Hah! Found it while I was searching for something else. http://www.users.bigpond.com/pear_computers/ Kick …

Re: Tyrian

Surely this is an error: Running "bppatch *.* /s [/p]" will list all file formats in the current directory. Don't you think he meant "ctbppatch *.* /s [/p]"? Or did he really mean bppatch? Anyhow, great job. Once you've posted it to Deep Thought, we may as well send Andreas an email (I'll do it, I …

He's still cool in my book. 😀 It's not like I'm young. 😀 And, hell, the song "It's All About The Pentiums" just rocks. 😀 http://www.thepentiums.com/

Re: Divide by zero & Boobia City

Boobia city... hmmm... City translates as this: òÄéø I'm guessing Hebrew as your ISP translates to Goldenlines, an Israel ISP (http://www.goldenlines.co.il) But the word "Boobia" doesn't translate. And Google only finds 16 hits for it. Help, Robo! Upload it somewhere, please!

Re: Divide by zero & Boobia City

in DOS
I think, to continue working on this problem, we'll need to have the game uploaded somewhere, Robo... Can you RAR it and upload it somewhere? We'll take it apart and put it back together again...

Re: Tyrian

MY Solution: Find a better TPPatch. ftp://ftp.heise.de/pub/ct/ctsi/ctbppat.zip There has been a tentative suggestion that >450MHz CPU's could give problems with *some* of the fixes available. This seems to be, at the time of writing, affecting the programs that have used c't magazine fix and related …

Re: Tyrian

Thanks for the info. Here's a rough translation of that link I posted (courtesy of "dox"): Dintahlion downlaoded tyrian2k from the web, played it once from hd(without problems) , and burned on cd (all files separate , without zipping). Next time tried to run it from cd .. game crashed in the first …

Re: Re: ntvdm.exe takes up 100% of my cpu

This is a "known" problem with NTVDM in general (NT4, Win2k, XP), and as far as I can tell it's by design. You can reduce the % CPU usage by going for "reduce CPU usage" in the Performance properties for LaunchPad (equivalent to the idle sensitivity in .pif files), but since this messes with the …

Re: GLIDOS & eVoodoo...

http://labs.google.com/glossary?q=voxel Only OpenGL version of a BUILD game I know of is/was glDuke: http://www.thisstrife.com/GLDUKE/oldnews.asp Oh, and eDuke is an enhanced version of Duke3D built for Win32 using Icculus' source (AFAIK) but it is NOT using OpenGL. http://www.saettler.com/eduke/ …

Re: Some results & Questions

Translation: This means, currently, if you want to fool around with games that have VESA support (and not Glide support), use: 0x110 - 640 x 480 @ 32,768 colors = 640 x 480 @15 bit color 0x111 - 640 x 480 @ 65,536 colors = 640 x 480 @16 bit color But you are planning on supporting more VESA modes, …

Re: Some results & Questions

Interesting experiment. The VESA support is very primitive, so unlikely to work for anything other than movies, but worth a go. BTW, VESA mode 0x101 is unsupported, so when it says that in the server window, it is ignoring any graphics. Only 0x110 and 0x111 have any support. Why only 0x110 and …

Re: GLIDOS & eVoodoo...

Yes they are. Your point? *eyes Stiletto suspiscuously* No, I was not thinking about SPEEDSET. Paul said "(e)verything I've done so far to do with VESA is specific to DOS/4GW programs (as is the rest of Glidos for obvious reasons), but it could be generalised." And BUILD engine games are DOS/4GW …
