Volume control for PC Speaker emulation?

Is there an option to set the volume of the PC Speaker emulation independently from the other emulated outputs (GUS/Adlib/SB etc)? The reason I ask is this; some games use PC speaker sound effects in addition to Adlib music, for example. With an actual physical PC speaker this isn't a problem, but …

Carmageddon II network play under WinXP?

in Windows
Hey, My brother and I have been trying to get Carma2 network play to work. The game itself runs 100% fine on both systems (under XP Pro), but neither machine can "see" the other in order to initiate a network game (no matter who hosts, the other machine says "no games in progress"). The network …

Glidos wrote: What's your reason for not just reinstalling? A ridiculously old / beat up / scratched CD, heh. I see that I'm gonna have to do that anyway, though, so I'll find a replacement and report back if the problem persists. Thanks for now.

Re: Carmageddon trouble

Yes - I said "DOS executables" since the Splat Pack version (which is what I'm trying to run) also has a set of Windows ones (carma95.exe, etc). I needed to differentiate here because the latter runs fine. As for other MS-DOS programs and games, sure; everything from Alley Cat to Impulse Tracker - …

Re: Carmageddon trouble

Already have... again, see first post  Same results with DOSDRV or without. It's really inexplicable, as if all the DOS executables in the folder somehow became corrupted. For all intents and purposes it's like running a blank batch file... no error message, not a thing, not even a split …

Re: Carmageddon trouble

Yes - like I said above, this happens both with and without VDMSound.... of course I do get the VDMS loader message but that's it. The .exe itself (or any other DOS .exe in the game folder) just seems to do absolutely nothing - I might also add that the Task Manager does not report a new process …

Carmageddon trouble

Alright - so this isn't directly related to GliDOS, but this seems to be the most logical place to find an answer to my problem... I've had Carmageddon on my hard drive since ages, long before I've installed XP Pro (which I'm using now). The thing is that none of the DOS executables do anything …

Sango Fighter 2, odd problem

This game seems to run without any problems under 0.61, but after I win one battle against the computer, it gets stuck in the "select your fighter" screen - the computer simply keeps moving through the list of fighters forever, without selecting... and the only way out is killing DOSBox. Happened to …

The tweaked CGA (160x100x16 "graphics") mode

I'm talking about the text mode that only shows the upper two scanlines of characters to simulate 16-color graphics in a few old games... In 0.61, some games that use this run absolutely perfectly (Round42, Moonbugs), but other things (like the ICON demo ) still display full characters?? Any way to …

Re: Battlestorm (Titus 1990) graphics problem

By the way, another problem I've noticed - it doesn't handle the palette changes correctly. There should be palette changes in the status screen (F10), in the game over screen, and in the high score list... the screen is supposed to get darker, leaving only the text in bright red and yellow, but …

Re: Battlestorm (Titus 1990) graphics problem

:s-face: About the command-line switches: when you run it by typing "STORM ?", it gives you the following - BATTLESTORM (Titus) *** The ultimate SHOOT'EM UP scrolling on EGA-VGA for BATTLESTORM by E.ZMIRO Options are : /C for CGA (4 COLORS) /B for buzzer music (Kind of goes by too fast to see, but I …

Battlestorm (Titus 1990) graphics problem

This appears to be a very little-known game, it isn't even on the mobygames archives(!). maybe someone will know what I'm talking about, though. The problem (running DOSBox v0.61) : In-game, whenever the screen scrolls a little, there is random garbage smeared halfway across the screen. (notes: 1 - …

Re: Quick Impulse Tracker question or two

Alright... caved in and registered. ;) (I'm the guy who made all those 'Unregistered' posts in this specific thread) Hmmm, maybe you guys wouldn't even need the source code? I'm no programmer but if I give you the .exe then you might be able to debug it or reverse-engineer it somehow..? It still …
