Re: What are the best Sound Canvas games?

... Also, I understand Lands of Lore uses capital tone fallback, and that won't work in Sound Canvas VA (or anything other than an old GS hardware synth, really). Is there any way around this, like a patch, or fixed version of DOSBox, or ScummVM? If not, how much of a difference does it make? I …

Re: What are the best Sound Canvas games?

I really like Warcraft 2's sound track, it's probably my favorite Blizzard sound track of all time. But making the MIDI sound like the CD-ROM version isn't that interesting to me. I have the CD-ROM version. I'd still like help curating the Sierra list. Going to try a different approach. Here are all …

Re: What are the best Sound Canvas games?

Care to rate or rank these Sierra GM tracks? I don't think I'll be replaying all of them - just the best of them. The Dagger of Amon Ra EcoQuest 2 Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist Gabriel Knight Gabriel Knight 2 Island of Dr. Brain King's Quest VI King's Quest VII Leisure Suit Larry 6 Pepper's …

Re: What are the best Sound Canvas games?

There are a LOT of GM-compatible Sierra games. Can you be more specific about which ones are the best? Also, I understand Lands of Lore uses capital tone fallback, and that won't work in Sound Canvas VA (or anything other than an old GS hardware synth, really). Is there any way around this, like a …

Re: Codename: Iceman and 300 points

I just tested it, and I think you're right! Not only that, but it works in version 1.023 too. Normally you use the flares to guide you through the maze. Using the flares gives you points too. But if you follow the path of the flares, you'll solve the maze in 6 steps instead of 4, and you'll miss two …

What are the best Sound Canvas games?

Now that Roland Sound Canvas VA has reached "good enough" territory, it's time for me to go on a DOS replay binge and hear what I've been missing, having been used to MS GS Synth and Adlib emulation for years. What should I add to my MIDI bucket list?

Re: Codename: Iceman and 300 points

Also, when asking the girl on the beach for the date ("ask for date"), the year is calculated differently. Did not know you could do this. In DOSBox, playing version 1.033, she says it's 4/12/36, which is only off by exactly 80 years. Don't really understand the logic - what is counting the years …

Re: Codename: Iceman and 300 points

If you can tell me which room# is the cavern (you can use SciViewer from here: http://sci.sierrahelp.com/Tools/OtherTools.html), I'll try to see what is the logic behind the point distribution in this room. pic.068 is the last room of the cavern. pic.053 is the room outside of the cavern. I tried …

Re: Codename: Iceman and 300 points

I would have thought the clue book written for the first version of the game. strange they would later retrofit the cluebook solution points into the final version of the game. I'm pretty sure that the cluebook solution points were always the intended points, and the first version is just bugged. …
