regarding the virtual printer patch ...

I have tried to print using the virtual printer patch included in Moe's cvs-build. However, each time I try to print something (for example: dir > lpt1, just for testing), only a short cracky sound reminds me that something is actually happening. NO ps file is being created, though. Which directory …

Re: Win 3.1 in DOSBox 0.65 on Mac; choppy sound

I'm no expert, for example I do not no much about the macOS filesystem. In linux, however, this adds up to a little howto: 1. Download the newest dosbox sources 2. Make sure you have gcc installed 3. Unpack the dosbox sources into any directory, preferably into your home directory. 4. Change into …

Re: Good reasons why to mount C:\ as C etc. in DOSBox

Yes, you're right. :happyhappy: :happyhappy: :happyhappy: But about the "not necessary to emulate" thing: It's not necessary, but it is something like a preservation of the past for the future. Also, I found out, that dosbox let's me do sbpro2 programming again !!!!!! Just like 10-15 years ago !!!! …

Re: Good reasons why to mount C:\ as C etc. in DOSBox

I do not want dosbox to become bloated with unnecessary features. But it is a dos emulator. ALL my old apps from the dos age actually function quite well. There is not one that does not. Some of these, however, do not run in win xp anymore. But in dosbox, they do. So what is the point to state …

Re: Good reasons why to mount C:\ as C etc. in DOSBox

There's no need for the developers to worry. Dosbox already supports A LOT of apps. And actually, it's much easier to install and run these apps in dosbox than in, for example, bochs. They run faster, too. P.S.: I think system demanding games actually call a lot of interrupt functions, too. Maybe …

Re: Good reasons why to mount C:\ as C etc. in DOSBox

I completely agree with polar that dosbox should focus on becoming a general dos emulator. Dos compatibility is decreasing with every new version of windows. If this development goes on (and yes, it will), dos software will end up the same way amiga software (for example) already has a long time ago …

just curious ...

As I have noticed using the latest cvs-builds (thanks to the developers!!!), dosbox compatibility (and SPEED!!! )has improved quite a lot since 0.65 again. Is there any chance we will see the release of a new official version soon? 😎 😎 😎

Re: how to adjust cpu cycles under linux?

All riddles solved! I finally managed to upgrade do dosbox 0.65!!!!!!!!!!! After reading a linux beginner's book and some computer-magazines. The only question remaining: Why did suse not include ver 0.65 from the very beginning? I'm able to adjust cpu-cycles via ctrl+win+F11/F12. The keyboard …

how to adjust cpu cycles under linux?

Here's another linux related dosbox question: How can I change cpu cycles? ctrl+ f11, f12 don't work for me! Could it be that the problem is related to my LAPTOP keyboard? Another big problem is that I cannot use many keys (For example, I have not yet found out how to type a backslash or a ":") I …

Re: suse linux beginner's question

Ok, thank you very much. I have found out that dosbox IS INCLUDED in my suse 10.1 distro afterall. I only had to install the package from my dvd because it is not part of the standard suse installation. It's version 0.63 (with xp I'm using a patched 0.65 cvs build). At least I'm able to play most …

suse linux beginner's question

I have recently installed suse linux 10.1 on my system (parallel to the previously installed winXP). Unfortunately, I'm a real linux n o v i c e. I know there's a dosbox version for linux, and I'd like to give it a try. But the available rpm-packages are described as "fedora"-packages. Is it …
