Re: Strange PCI graphics card

Ooops, Old Thrashbarg posted while I was typing my message! Maybe it would be nice to have an alert when this happens? I've seen the feature in other forums. It could come handy in these situations.

Wikipedia says that DVI was created in 1999. Do you know the manufacturing date of this card? Maybe it's not a DVI port after all (although it really looks like one!) PS: The vgamuseum site mentions "Bayview50/52 LVDS". Mmmm, maybe it's a port for some strange LCD panels or something like that. LVDS …

Windows 8 is not currently a problem and won't be for a few more years. The REAL problem will come when Microsoft stops providing security fixes for Windows 7 and most hardware companies stop producing device drivers for it. I hope there's a good alternative to the fugly Metro interface by then ( …

I was able to reproduce the crash easily (in the very first map of the Atreides campaign), but after having restarted the computer I can no longer make it crash anymore! The crashes are bit random now, and much less frequent. I'll keep trying to see if I can get it crash reliably. Regards …

I have upgraded to Dune Dynasty 1.5.2 and now the game crashes again when I right click on a black zone of the map 🙁 Are you guys having the same problem? I'd really like to use left-click orders, but it seems that the crashing problems still persist.

I really hope Windows Blue will rectify or fix the poor usability of Metro, and the poor interaction between the Classic and Modern UI. Otherwise, we'll continue to see articles like this: http://www.forbes.com/sites/adriankingsleyhughes/2013/03/14/why-windows-8-is-the-first-windows-release-i- …

After having been outbidded a few times, I've learned that you MUST use auto-bidding if you want to win anything. There are sites like the auctionsniper.com mentioned that put only one bid at the last second, making it absolutely impossible to react in time for a normal human. The only way to win …

PS: I'm currently using Windows 8 x64 (although I really dislike it and I'm thinking of reverting back to Windows 7) Cannot you configure it to look like win7(xp)? There are add-ons to put the start menu back, but what I truly hate is the awful integration between Metro and Classic. I spend all of …

Guys, Dune Dynasty v1.5.1 crashes as soon as I right click on the map to cancel a selection (I'm using "left_click_orders=1" in the config file) The rest of the options are at their default values. Is anyone having the same problem? PS: I'm currently using Windows 8 x64 (although I really dislike it …

Re: Best choice of Windows for internet browsing?

It HAS to be Windows. Its not about Linux being a better option, its about finding a windows thats best suited for this. So far XP has the best score. I recently found out that Microsoft Security essentials also work on XP. MS Security Essentials won't work on Server editions or WinFLP, for example …

Where do you get your information from? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307852 - The "last known good" functionality extends back to NT 3.1. In fact, I'm certain it's Win9x that actually LACKS that functionality. The last known good functionality is almost useless when you have defective sectors in …

But I still think that this is much more complex than it should be. The numerous downsides greatly outweigh the supposed benefits of the Registry. I hate the person who invented the Windows Registry and everyone inside Microsoft responsible for implementing it. I would pay to have them tortured and killed. Or I would personally volunteer to kill them with my own hands. I'm serious. Why? It's a much better idea than having an assortment of …
