The SB16 will be your safest best. Probably the de facto in any retro PC. If you want something interesting, go for the GUS. With some sound patches, it's a stunning card. This is what I get after running UVCONFIG, which seems to be the same as univbe.exe (which doesn't exist on the disc)

Found the problem. The driver files weren't copied over to the C:\ properly. Opps! Dont forget to use XCOPY /S kids -.-

Started over, just installing the Gravis. All works well without conflicts, but I have one issue. When I try opening Ultramid... "configuration file not in $(ULTRADIR)/midi directory"

Been a long time since this thread :P But as the situation sits now...I'm using a Gravis Classic, and a real SB16 (no PnP). I've been able to get them to co-exist fairly well for the most part...but there seem to be some minor conflicts that the PC is complaining about. I do know if I run the GUS …

Noob question I know, but I have a DRV file (For GM on SCI0 games), and I was wondering how I load it onto my system? Do I need to add a line on Config.sys or Autoexec? This is for DOS, not Windows.

The ET4000AX I have is pretty old...and isn't in the best shape cosmetically. I did order a new Cirrus Logic CL-GD5424-80QC-C 1MB VESA for this system, which is in better shape. I guess that is something I am missing. However the Turbo button doesn't seem to have any effect on this PC. I guess one more thing I should note...with the Turbo LED cable plugged into the motherboard...the LED displays a clock speed of 18... POST says 66MHz, and I know for a fact the case LED can display at least a 3 digit number...
