Skip to 1:55:x~ for an interview of Aaron Giles who ported games to the mac, an upscaler + smoothing algorithms was used for much of the mac games, like all the current emulation scalers/smoothers, rather than native: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhbZCqhnfa4

It is a very interesting interview. I've seen it recently. Regarding the graphic smoothing on Lucasarts adventure games, there are a lot of people who don't like it. They prefer the original VGA graphics. Personally, I like more the Mac graphics with the filter turned on. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max Hit the Road, Full Throttle, and The Dig, have very clean and sharp picture. Most of the time, I like technically the sound/music more than the graphics. For instance, I prefer the dos cd version with Roland of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. But I prefer Mac versions of Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max, Full Throttle and, The Dig.

- Amiga 500, Amiga 1200

Dark Forces for mac also has a hi-res HUD. Lucius said he will add support for loading Mac data files in the future on The Force Engine.

Terminal Velocity has always crashed on me if I can it on anything higher than MacOS 7, 8.0-9.2 has always lead to a system crash.

Something I've noticed recently is how much faster a PPC chip needs to be in order to run a game that PCs also have available. The notable ones are Descent 2, Duke Nukem 3D, Shattered Steel, Mechwarrior 2, MDK and a few others. The MAc port of Doom is a mess, but it has the ability to look REALLY good. A Pentium 166MMX was running as well as a 225Mhz 603ev. Not exactly related, but related.

Hardware aside, I do like the way Shattered Steel plays on a Mac, the mouse controls feel more responsive. Wolfenstein 3D is good on Mac for obvious reasons.

There are a ton of dos games that have fancy guis on black and white macs, the gold box series for example. I’ve been meaning to sit down and play through a bunch of old dos games that have fancy ports on black and white mac.

Recently, I went to a Greek Museum regarding old computers, consoles, mobiles, etc. I saw there a Macintosh Classic with a game running. I can say that I loved the quality of the black-and-white picture.

I also asked them to turn on the Atari 1040 STF because I wanted to see the quality of the Atari SM124 monitor. Also, very nice.

Sonic Superstars Tennis is better on a Mac, as it was never ported to the PC (but was on the Mac!)... yes I'm still annoyed at missing that slice of Sumo Digital goodness (played it on Wii)!

My PC spec: Win10 64bit, i7-4970K (not overclocked), KFA2 GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER, Creative Soundblaster ZXr, 16GB RAM, Asus Z97-A motherboard, NZXT 410 case, ROG Swift GSYNC monitor

The Yoot Tower (called The Tower II in Japan) developed on Mac and than ported to Windows 9x. The Windows 9x port has a big problem which does not exist in the original Macintosh version:

ps.: The prequel game the SimTower (called The Tower in Japan) also developed on Macintosh, and later ported to Windows 3.1

some of my stuff in action https://youtu.be/DAh57K8N_p8

Now this is paradise ❣️.
A real computer or console has greater feeling than an emulator. If there's availability of various different computers and consoles, then it's nice to see the differences and the style of each system. 😀

I'm building slowly my retro living room in the house where I grew up 😀 .

@Dimitris1980
Beautiful room!

@dr.zeissler
Big collection!
Schneider Euro PC
Apple IIGS
Mac LC
Power Mac 6100
Acorn Archimedes?
Atari Mega ST
Amiga 2000
PC? with lovely Roland modules
Acorn Archimedes?
Amstrad CPC (Schneider one)

I'm not familiar with Acorn machines. Is there a PC emulator card in the Amiga 2000? Or why there are 4 floppy drives? 😁
The Mega ST is 1 or 2? What is the TOS version?

Thank you all 😀

I am expecting these days a Philips CD-I console with Digital Video Cartridge installed. Unfortunately due to lot of workload this period of the transportation companies, I couldn't have it after Christmas and before 2024. Probably I will have it one of the next days 😀

thx man! here are some images of some other stuff I own... https://www.flickr.com/photos/94839221@N05/albums

recent changes I did (after the videos)

Euro-PC
- took out the XTIDE in EuroPC and installed a XTAHD on the harddisk port.
- changed the monitor from Nec51vm to 1970nxp for better hercules support (can also do CGA and Plantronics as well) look at the pics...hercules is so nice on XT!
- put a CT4170 soundcard in in to get some adlib support. Not the best, but currently I have no real short OPL2 card and I get the benefit of using a joystick with the CT4170. (not tested midi though)

Amiga 2000
- changed the SCSI-harddrive to a SD solution on the same SCSI-Controller

AtariST:
- changed the MegaST4 with TOS 2.06 to a Mega ST1 with 2MB RamUpgrade and internal 80286/8 PC Emulator while hooking up an external SD-Card solution for storage.

Now back to macintosh 😀 ....

you also saw a macmini G4/1.42 equipped with 10.3.9....

Next thing is to make a tripple-boot with MacOS9 and Morphos for that machine and I am planning to change the 500GB external LaCie drive to a SSD solution...hopefully it's not IDE internally but SATA in order to stop the fan-noise on that harddisk. The MacMIni G4 is also used to transfer files directly to the IIgs and to the IIe card in the LC by using ADTpro. Works really good.
