Mac emulation is in an unfortunately spotty state, I wouldn't fully rely on them to bring the right experience. There really isn't a PCem equivalent for Mac.

Also Mac version of Blackthorne runs in SVGA.

SEGA CD ver. has better completely different backgrounds and one completely new scenery (snowy) with very nicely designed new levels.[/quote]

SEGA CD version would be great if characters wouldn't look so plasticky. ;]

Yeah, hardcoregaming 101 did a nice comparison of Blackthorne versions, where they mentioned the pros and the cons of the Sega 32x.

It would be nice update list in first post and write to every game why is Mac version better and even add some picture / video comparison (Mac vs PC). #SpasSquirel

Im old goal oriented goatman, i care about facts and freedom, not about egos+prejudices. Hoarding=sickness. If you want respect, gain it by your behavior. I hate stupid SW limits, SW=virtual world, everything should be possible if you have enough raw HW.

Doom for mac has such a horrible key assignment method that makes it impossible to assign the default pc version keys.

You know you can play all above games on platform of your choice in emulator. Nobody forces you to use real mac here 😉

But does the emulator emulate the unreliability of a real mac? If not, then it isn't a good emulator. 😈

Macs were amazingly reliable back in the day. The 1990s-era clones weren't (sub-standard hardware), and the software could be really messed up if you installed a bunch of random shareware extensions.

As for OP's question, SimCity 2000 tended to run better. The Windows version was miles ahead of the DOS version but the Mac had superior music on board, and it was easy to create your own scenarios. The Windows version did have the Debug menu cheat, though, and a fourth zoom level.

I think this list should be changed to
What games were better on B&W Mac versus PC.

Most everyone I knew that owned a Mac back in the day of dos gaming
Had either
A B&W Mac or an Apple Ii of some sort.

I didn’t know anyone with a color Mac until the late 90’s
and I don’t think that’s a unique thing either.

If no one owned a color Mac in the Dos era and only experienced Color Macs at school I think it’s sort of a unicorn to compare.

most if not all mac versions of games mentioned here were released years later when hardware was better, and the idea of this thread is to find them.

How do people find this better? Even the voice acting and sound effects are different. Just, no.
