Here's a thought:
Vlad, let it play through the ENTIRE intro without hitting a key to skip. Will it slowdown/crash? It did for me, even WITH digi.drv replaced.

Okay - I'll test some more with my floppy version then.

PrivatePanic, you could always try emulating the Mac version! See here:

Very often it would slow down to a crawl just as the throne room door would open. No longer happened after th patch IIRC, but it could have been a coincidence.

Maybe Nicht can tell you where you might be able to buy it. Also, try eBay.

Here's an American site to buy it from:
http://www.e-cdrom.com/prinofper2bo.html

Here's another site to buy it:
http://www.timesmm.com/title72.html

Try Amazon as well.

This guy has it for trade:

The demo's here:

VOGONS does not promote piracy, PrivatePanic... didn't you read the disclaimer at the bottom of the page? 😀

Generally speaking, Prince of Persia 2 and Prince of Persia Collection both include the PC and the Macintosh versions. If you truly own the game on CD (unlike me with the floppy version), you should have it already. 😉

Try the demo, see if you can get it working in Basilisk II. When I saw Nicht's screenshots, I knew I had to try to recommend it, regardless if the music was a little slow.

If i remember correctly mine was clearance-rack item at Half-Price books.

That was the bonus. I remember trying it on Basilisk just for compatibility testing and was stunned when I found that they had redone all the graphics. Very nice.

PoP2 isn't quite as "enhanced", but still, the added resolution is easy on the eyes.

...regardless if the music was a little slow.

Actually, it's intolerably slow. If you turn off the music and skip the cut-scenes, it seems fine. Note, that I haven't done in-depth testing.

The only true solution right now is to emulate a DOS-based system within Windows. Best free one right now is DOSBox, supported here in our forums. Still some bugs regarding saving, and you have to make sure you configure the game "right", but if your system is powerful enough to run DOSBox well, then use it.

Hopefully the success of The Sands of Time will lead to a new collection of the PoP titles, rewritten for Windows. One can always hope... (I HAVE heard of a new rewrite for a PDA or something, forget where...)

Phew what an exhaustive (and exhausting) thread... 😀

Personally, could not get the damn game working right under VDMSound.

DosBox worked a charm with the DIGI.DRV replacement and these changes to the dosbox.conf file:

[sblaster]
#irq=7
irq=5

[dos]
#xms=true
#ems=true
xms=false
ems=false

(or preferably make these changes to a copy of dosbox.conf, say prince2.conf, and use that as your config file when starting DosBox)

If you are having sound issues, it is often because you got the IRQ wrong.

the game does weird things when the irq is wrong. Most will just crash or have sound stuttering constantly, but this one is different. specifically, the first sound for a scene works, but later ones act weird. it's liek the game doesnt' know one soud has stoppe dplaying, and waists for it to finish to play the other ones. if you are aving this problem, you can tell by the fact that the game will continue when it seems stuck if you pause and unpause it.
