Hi to everyone,

I would like to submit you a problem that I can currently explain.
I made some research through the forum but I didn't find any clue. Maybe I missed the good topic, so forgive me if it's the case.

I use VDMSound with Windows XP SP1 and I noticed a problem with digital sounds diffusion in DOS games : the game became extremly slow. And digital sounds diffusion produces a cracking effect.
If I desactive digital sounds, games work fine.
The result is the same as obtained with the Sound Blaster emulation provided by MS-DOS sessions.
Maybe my question will seem stupid but is it Windows or VDMSound which assumes digital sounds diffusion ?
I tried to change the values in the DMA Servicing section, or the size of the buffer in the Sound Blaster section... without success.
I tried to find an answer in the VDMS.ini file but some options are unknown for me, so I don't want to change them.
[SB Controller.depends]
VDMSrv = VDMServicesProvider
DMACtl = DMA Transfer Manager
WaveOut = SB Wave Player --> Maybe this one ?
AdLib = AdLib Controller

Thanks for your help.

This problem occurs in games like Doom, Duke Nukem 3D or Might and Magic III. If I'm correct they use voc files.
I tried it on two machines :
- one with Windows XP Home SP2,
- the other with Windows XP Pro SP1.
Results are the same.
I don't know how to solve it but I think the information can be usefull.
