Glidos is good I really love blood.

I have downloaded versions
1.24
1.25
1.27

My machine only seems to be able to run 1.24 at any descent speed is there any way I can speed Glidos without any major surgery

VDMS installed
Prefer 800 x 600 res in glidos

Thanx

Glidos.ini (only checking for Blood)
In v1.25 and v 1.27 there is no line for ForceTextureSmoothing

OpenGlid.ini
In v1.25 and v 1.27 EnableMipmaps = 1

Should I disable Mip Mapping perchance ?
Tried this 1.25 still way slower than 1.24

Also tried adding line ForceTextureSmoothing: No
in Glidos.ini still slowwwww
😕

Tried same as above with v1.27 see some improvement. It seems to be E1M1 that is so slow other maps are not as bad

Please tell me the results of trying the mipmap change. Maybe you did, but it wasn't completely clear.

I do need to find out why there's a speed difference. If we can establish its not down to config files, I can look at other things.

There is some improvement in v1.27 when i change mipmap flag, but still does not touch the performance of v1.24

ps should i run cli2nop on the copy of blood i use with 3dfx patch?

And how about the 1.24 1.25 comparisen with all config equal? You see, if I can definitely identify the version increment responsible, then I can look at the changes I made. But if we make a mistake identifying the version increment, because there's a config difference, then I just go away looking for something that isn't there, and waste a load of time.

Another thing worth trying: if you find that the difference is between 1.24 and 1.25, then try swapping the versions of Glide2x.dll that they use. Actually, before doing that, have a look at the OpenGLid.INI file and tell me what OpenGlide version each of these Glidos versions are using.

for glidos 1.24 openglide.ini =0.009rc5
for glidos 1.25 openglide.ini =0.009rc5
for glidos 1.27 openglide.ini =0.009rc7

When all settings are exactly the same v1.25 is much slower than v1.24

Changed to 0.09rc6? That shouldn't be able to happen, in that the very first time you run Glidos and it loads OpenGLide, it should recognise the version mismatch, delete the incorrect OpenGLid.INI file and regenerate it.
But these are all copies you have run before, so... weird.

Can you do another check on this please? Delete all the OpenGLid.INI files, run all the Glidos versions (you only have to start Glidos, not TR) and tell me again the OpenGLide versions for each Glidos version.

Thanks, Paul.

Okay good. Try swapping around the Glide2x.dll files so that the one that is currently in the v1.24 Glidos folder ends up in the v1.25 Glidos folder, and vice versa. (Obviously this has to be done with the use of a third location to avoid overwriting). Delete the OpenGLid.ini files again. Run both, and check that you get new OpenGLid.INI files with swapped versions

v1.24 0.09rc6
v1.25 0.09rc5

Then try both versions for speed.

Thanks.
