I see, that's good to know with the power 😀

To read an EPROM, how did you figure out the type?

I've seen the post about usinf FLASH memory for the ROM chips. That's pretty cool.

Well I believe all my MT-32 units are ROM version 1.07 anway. But I wanted to do a video about dumping the ROMs and found them to be soldered.

I've seen these chip clamps, which clamp onto existing ICs. Wondering if that would work...

yeah, the power is important! when I had my old willem programmer 1v made a HUGE difference when burning eproms that typically require ~12.45 Programming Voltage (IIRC)
To figure out a chip you either search it's datasheet or assume the type by it's size if you know it... because most stuff follow the JEDEC standar then if you have an unbranded 64kb chip you can directly replace it with a 27C512 for example, most likely it will work just fine. Else it's trial and error, tbh I never had to do any hard guessing on this so maybe there is another better way I don't know.
And yep, I find it better to use flash eproms , they look more pro 🤣

Do you mean those "reverse sockets" that plug on top of chips? Haven't used them, I don't see why they won't work unless the nearby ics are affected too or something

Put a lot of work into this one and hopefully I can keep doing more like it 😀

This video is for anyone who wants to tweak the DOSBox settings of the GOG.com release of Wing Commander III. But it also shows how you can get this release to run on a MS-DOS Gaming PC.

all things considered it was so nice to see Volkov Commander in action again after all these years! Thank you Mau1wurf1977 for another cool video.

A quick update. I decided to start a website because I felt that a lot of my work and efforts are scattered all over the place and I'd like a home for it all. Sometimes just for me as I forget how to do something or didn't backup a driver.

The website is quite bare but you got to start somewhere right?

I'm also adjusting how I produce my videos. I script the commentary now so they will be a bit more polished, more to the point, less pauses and less ums and ahs. Videos featuring VGA captures will be produced in 60 fps in the hope that YT will enable this feature.

To fund my website I have also turned on ads, I hope it doesn't annoy people too much but it is what it is...

Here is my first, new, video:

Produced another video 😀

In this video review we are looking at a SATA to IDE adapter. It has JP103-5 printed on the board and the converter chip is labelled IDE / SATA DOF 874KZ0441 written on it.
