I think your adult standard disclaimer would be sufficient, although I can't imagine who under the age of 18 would be watching a show about ancient DOS games, many of which would have been released before they were born.

You'd be surprised. :o

Also, Blip has a policy against showing nudity in videos in any manner, so if that game does win out the votes and turns out to have nudity, I wouldn't exactly have a choice in terms of censoring.

However, as with the Leisure Suit Larry and Mystic Towers videos: If the adult content is censored, there's no reason to warn anyone about there being adult content, since they're not going to be exposed to anything in the first place. This is partly why the warning I have focusses on violence, since that type of content IS allowed on Blip, and many PC games have graphic violence by default and aren't exactly the same without it, if it even has the option to disable it. :P

*shrugs* We'll see where everything ends up soon enough. ;)

Gemini000: I would say it is sufficient enough to do a google image search on Cobra Mission, and you are going to see tig bitties, and also perhaps vulvas and what not. Seriously, if you did an ADG on Cobra Mission, I would rather recommend you uploading that particular episode to a porn site. As an alternative. Cause there is no way in hell you would/could be able to censor the whole game.

Cobra Mission is a hentai game, there is no way around it. Which is why you could really mess things up, reviewing that game. Not that I care or not. But seriously though, my thoughts are. You should seriously NOT review that game, unless you like living on the edge. Play the game for all you care. But seriously , think twice about that game. If it hits the top spot of games for you to review.

Good to know. If in the future I do decide to take a look at it, and it does turn out to be 99% porn, I can just delegate it to a filler video and explain why I'm not reviewing it as a regular episode while censoring the heck out of it. ;)

Already know what I'm doing for my next filler video though. :B

This is so much BS imo. Big cooperations setting the standard what is allowed and whatnot. It's the "American" double standard of violence OK, nudity BAD being stuffed down our throats. So even if you live in a European country which have alot more relaxed attitude to nudity and swearing (a bit more harsh towards violence) you get hit by this.

On the flip side, Blip is fully allowed to state what kinds of content are disallowed on their own service since they're the ones providing said service in the first place. :P

While a substantial number of DOS games are graphically violent, nudity is a fairly rare thing amongst games in general, unless you start talking mods. Daggerfall is one of the few that come to mind and I had to be creative when cutting the footage I had captured since the Nymph enemies in that game are VERY naked...

I do agree though that it seems backwards that violence is often considered "safer" than nudity when it comes to entertainment, despite the fact that nudity really is nothing more than not wearing clothes. *shrugs*

It's a sad state of affairs when slow-mo graphic violence - like blowing someones head off - is acceptable but nudity is frowned upon. Australia's no better, we're a bunch of repressed puritans who apparently would prefer to see someone experiencing pain over pleasure.

Life? Don't talk to me about life.

Well said, it is so true. And the issue has been brought up before. And normally I have been the guy who started the discussion about the Danish laid-back attitude towards nudity, and so forth. So let us have a smoke or two 😉 instead of the usual bollocks from you know where 😀

Ancient DOS Games Episode 131 - Crusader: No Remorse is online!
(Please note that this is a mature rated episode.)

So yeah... this game won the voting by a SINGLE vote. Whoever says voting doesn't make a difference clearly doesn't get it. :P

...and Legend of Kyrandia didn't get ANY votes. None at all. Ah well.

The game that almost beat out Crusader was Under a Killing Moon, so I'll probably cover that game sometime in May or June, seeing as how I already have my next two games planned as well as Edutainment Month. ;)

So yeah, considering I didn't own the full version of this game back in the day, and considering I was only able to get up to the end of the third mission for reasons I go into in-depth in the video, hopefully I still did it justice given how popular it was (and still is to some extent as far as retro titles are concerned).

Grumble, I thought it was cute at first, but have grown to hate Edutainment month.

Also, I get a "The connection was reset" error in the video frame when loading this weeks video or the http://blip.tv/ page directly, I guess Blip is down.

Must've just been a very temporary problem. It was working when I left it, people have been sending in guesses, and it's working now. If you're still having this problem you should get in touch with Blip's support or your ISP, as there may be an issue that's affecting you specifically. (You may even try just restarting your computer.)

I've heard a lot of people croon over Crusader but have never really looked into it, so it was interesting to see the ADG episode on it. I suppose I should pick it up on GOG if it goes on sale for a couple bucks.

Ancient DOS Games Episode 132 - Wacky Wheels is online!

HUGE number of guesses this week. I'm guessing this is a fondly remembered game amongst most DOS gamers and I'm not surprised why. Still, if you ever wondered why you had so much trouble playing the Champion Class in this game, there's a reason and I do go into the details. ;)

EDIT: Previously had a message here that only the low-def conversion was working from Blip. The standard-def conversion is working now too! :)

Gemini000: Last Saturday I saw your episode of Crusader No Remorse, and it was a smashing episode. And thanks to reddit, I suddenly understand the politeness in the warning you give out 😀 So thumps up for that 😀 Also I was about to blabber out "hey don't you know about *censored game name* ? ", and when you gave the hint. I knew, you knew about the other racing game with animals. In fact, it is a bit older than than Wacky Wheels 😀 So smashing great episode 😀

I remember Wacky Wheels being a hit in the shareware scene, but probably because Mario Kart was quite popular at the time and it was nice for those of us who were not console gamers to have a PC alternative.

Personally I remember it being entertaining for a few days until something else stole my attention.

I had a good time with it, especially since my brother and I could play the shootout game against each other on the same pc. One of the few multiplayer games we had, apart from Worms and Scorched Earth.

I thought it was much better than the 'other' game, which we also had. wacky wheels just seemdd a bit more polished.

welp unless it's free i don't need Crusader No Remorse. to bad they could make a patch version with better controls for the GOG release along with a classic/original mode.

Ancient DOS Games Episode 133 - Skunny Kart is online!

...and because I'm super-tired and don't care enough about this game to elaborate on anything right now beyond what's said in the episode itself, I'm going to bed. :P

When I did a video on this game, I tried really hard to find some redeeming quality. The music isn't too bad, but if you only play the shareware version, you only ever hear one song while racing. Just one!

In the end, Wacky Wheels exists, there's no reason to play this. Also yay, I got a correct guess! 😁
