so i can use/play my games from GOG on dos/98 ?

Yes! 😉

Watch the first five videos in the playlist. They are quite technical, but not much that can be done about this. They cover all the types of GOG.com DOSBox games I have come across and how to make them run on a MS-DOS Time-Machine.

Excellent, love those videos. Looking forward to the next installment!

The P55C is my favorite CPU but with my SuperSocket7 rig I've got the problem that I want to max out the system as much as possible (300Mhz, maxed out timings) but at the same time keep 386 compatibility for games like Ultima VII...which doesn't quite work 😉

For that scenario a K6-2+ or K6-3+ is the way to go. You can leave the FSB at 66 MHz and via software change the multiplier from 2.0x to 6.0x. That gives you a clock speed of between 133 and 400 MHz while still being 386 compatible with L1 and L2 Cache disabled.

At 100 MHz FSB you can go between 200 MHz and 600 MHz.

Now be aware that SOME mainboard allow you to change the FSB in the BIOS. The Iwill board I use does this and there are others too. This is as flexible as it gets.

I will review the K6-2 this week, followed by the K6-2+ and then finally the K6-3+.

Well, the thing is, I just can't drop the P233MMX from the system for stupid nostalgic reasons 😉

I might underclock it to 2x100, or lower, and build a second system (Socket A, my second favorite platform) for more recent Win9x-era titles.

I really like the vid on the K6-2+ K6-3+

Ill watch it again when I have more time.

I had no idea there was a program to change FSB in the command line...Ill look into it further

Is that a slight South African accent I detect?

Not the FSB, but the multiplier. From 2.0x to 6.0x 😀

Nope, not south African, guess again 😁

Ok guys here is another video!

Almost 1h long 😀

Review Of Bjt42's Softmpu - MS-DOS Time-Machine Gaming - Real Hardware - No Emulators

- Putting together a Super Socket 7 Time-Machine
- Pentium 233 MMX
- 16MB RAM
- Radeon 7000
- AWE64 Gold
- SI SATA PCI Controller
- 320GB SATA 2.5" HDD
- MT-32 (Old)
- Joystick MIDI cable
- Audio cables
- Games: Wing Commander, Space Quest 3, Gateway and Fate of Atlantis

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0N3uYnXIer8&li … gbVqyX&index=24

- It's very RAW. No fancy editing. What you see is what you get.
- It's very long. You might drift off 😀
- Fate of Atlantis locks up but actually doesn't need intelligent mode. So maybe that's why. But rebooting the PC after each game is a good idea anyway
- Check the readme file because new versions might have new features
- Forgot to mention the /DELAYSYSEX feature!
