Thanks for the info on Rad, it looks great! You're take on Eradicator was spot on, my sticking point was the "timer sequence" as well but I'll
figure it out eventually. With this one not being a build game is a mod even possible?

Apparently Eradicator comes with a map creator called ED, and there are Doom map editors that support Eradicator. A number of forums have done sprite rips and the like... it could be possible with a lot of effort to do to Eradicator what was done to Radix... but it would be asking a LOT...

Update the seventy-eighth!

Like Ric Flair and retirement matches, Lawnie just doesn't know when to quit!

This week's scripted video was the most obvious ever. Replacing one Revolution Software game with another! Beneath a Steel Sky for Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars. All the point and click goodness you could ever ask for! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjtQmZbFflY

An unprecedented THREE of the four random DOS games this week were remakes of earlier titles. Remorseview Pacman was a throwaway Pacman clone with no sound contained within another piece of DOS software. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sy321dHrniQ

Fracas was a decent Bomberman clone with wizards! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bU0SVssByR8

While CHAMP Kong is probably the best DOS remake of Donkey Kong. Shame I am completely useless at it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJenK-PWKKQ

The real star of the show though? The text-based tour-de-force that was the multiple choice volcano survival scenario within the Mount Saint Helens Review and Survival Simulation! I had far more fun playing and editing together this one than I expected to! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsQb-jdgI20

That's your lot this week. Will next week contain even more DOS gaming videos? You bet! Lawnie... away!

Update the seventy-ninth!

Like a lariat from Konosuke Takeshita, you know Lawnie is coming and there's nothing you can do about it!

This week's scripted video talked about mods and the wider implications of the release of Daggerfall Unity on GOG for the future of gaming. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQGW7Bzxl-E

Random DOS game land was appalling this week. Bad free Spanish Sensi clone, shareware proof of concept shark game and a bust-a-move clone that looked like it had been written as a school project!

Amidst all that though I was able to find a truly good game for a certain niche: Cyrus! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tb5NslQT8hQ

Cyrus is a tournament-level microcomputer chess program from the mid-eighties that came out years before Chessmaster and had a dazzling array of options as well as a fantastic-looking board. Well worth a look for enthusiasts!

That's your lot in these lean times! Will Lawnie return with far better weekly updates than this one? Yes, yes he will! Until then!

Update the eightieth!

Like a tree falling in the woods, whether he's watched or not, Lawnie makes a lot of noise!

This week's scripted video was a continuation of another series. This time focusing on the best games unavailable for digital download from the 2000s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfInUezqGss

Championship Manager 2 graced my screen, and of course I loved it to bits. But I doubt many others will because they won't give it a chance because football. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuX3H8jsn4A

Robot Tank was an entertaining top-down maze shooter with destructible walls and a wide variety of difficulties.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNAsdOrDOXs

And there was the classic ear-piercing DOS port of the arcade game Centipede, which I loved every minute of! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQplr6ZMWlo

Will even more good DOS games be coming next week? Well, yes actually, that's the point. Until then!

Funny seeing "Freelancer" in that list, I streamed the storyline missions a while back. I probably should re-stream it again since I can stream in 1920x1080 60 FPS now where as I was streaming at 640x360 at 30 FPS back then.

"Star Citizen" was supposedly going to be what "Freelancer" wasn't, but that's a huge can of worms I don't think anybody wants to open!

Even if Star Citizen comes out, I'll probably never own a computer powerful enough to run it!

Of course not! It's a DOS game, isn't it? I'm sure it will show up at some point, and maybe I can expedite that.

Update the eighty-first!

Like Mr. Blobby guest-starring in something, nobody asked Lawnie to return but he inexplicably has!

This week's first scripted video was based on a thread from the DOSgaming subreddit, which asked how many great DOS games you could fit onto one floppy. I took up the challenge and managed 45 great titles by mercilessly cheating! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeEkMnEUIbw

The second one? A quick review about Shufflepuck Cafe, a paddle game with a distinct difference! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E1nQ1f7ftA

Random DOS game land was utterly blessed this week, with EVERY SINGLE GAME being good!

Fallout is an unfortunately-titled falling block puzzle game that's actually really good! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZncoXATWzw

Super Solvers Treasure Cove is a side-scrolling underwater edutainment title that works nicely. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYcNV-vOiBo

Shufflepuck Cafe is a massively underrated first-person Pong variant that will have you mouse hand twitching like crazy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rKo08-lZ6o

And finally? Why it's TNT Evilution, which is part of Final Doom, which means MORE. DOOM! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsfZzmzlCaI

That's your lot for this week, everything was worth watching! Will the wheels finally fall off next week? Not quite, but I need my health to improve so I can start recording again! Until next time!

Me neither, but that's easily chalked up to game engines being overly bloated and expecting people to have 3900 W computers to throw at the inefficient code problem.

I actually remember playing this at my early years of school back in the mid 90's. The school I went to had primarily Macintosh computers, so I played the Mac version.

It's my biggest pet peeve about modern coding practices. You need to cut the bloat and make sure that it can run on anything from a potato to a supercomputer, but because of rushed crunch time and bad QA, they just (maybe) patch it up later on.

Update the eighty-second!

Like digging through a carpet of moss to get to a path underneath, not many people do what Lawnie does, but they're grateful when he appears to do it!

This week was my randomly talking about week. Instead of scripted videos I sat myself in front of a camera at the new house and tested out the recording environment. First I talked about the excellent point and click adventure game Star Trek The Next Generation: A Final Unity! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ne22s39qIyA

Then in a complete curve ball for the channel, I spoke at length about a French RPG developer called Spiders, who have absolutely nothing to do with the sort of games I usually talk about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lipOWZOalYo

In Random DOS Game land I had the pleasure of coming across three very entertaining games and one throwaway gimmick text adventure. The first of these good games was Will Harvey's Zany Golf, a dated but enjoyable mini golf game from the eighties. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lG2Sj8hBqE

The next one was a Puzznic clone called Brix that was suitably enjoyable despite some slowdown issues. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmayNKUykWM

Last but not least was the excellent Bust-A-Move 2, which provided all the fun of the arcades but in DOS format! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5vDmM2V584

That's your lot, and it's plenty! Lawnie WILL return next week with another update, and will undoubtedly continue chatting away in here and NOWHERE else for some peculiar reason. Until then!

Update the eighty-third!

Like a half-frozen resident in an energy crisis, Lawnie is still here somehow!

This week's scripted video is largely preaching to the Vogons choir, but is a direct response to the irritating habit of people on certain sites to pretend that there are only a clutch of good DOS games out there. It's called 'There Are More Than 25 DOS Games' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJnNZiAYhjw

In Random DOS game land we had MORE LEMMINGS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuAbcN40V-g

Fascinating yet extremely dry business sim Capitalism broke the time limit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjZeUn5Z858

Then I tried to play Powerdrome without a joystick, which was a very bad idea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLLy4HBUGnw

And my cat interrupted me while playing They Call Me... The Skul. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuwJO2YHQM8

Expect more next week! Provided I don't freeze to death... Now, off to bleed a radiator. Lawnie...away!

Update the eighty-fourth!

Like a sausage casserole in a slow cooker, a Lawnie update smells and is inevitable.

This week's scripted video was me talking about how to best overcome the hurdles of being a DOS gamer in this day and age. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LepdjQiKM5M

My second scripted video was entitled Saving Barbarian, and had me revisiting a classic and making it truly playable again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tgg0gkz52ZU

In Random DOS game land, things were truly poor this week, with the only real standouts being the moderately playable Power Drive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJxttTf9pHA and a weird Sumo game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qy99fP0Ae1g

Will things get better? Yes, yes they will. October means a new season, and I'll be taking even more time to make these random videos better. That's weeks away though, unlike the next update, which will turn up next week! Until then! Lawnie... away!

Update the eighty-fifth!

Like a bin man on strike, Lawnie continues leaving trash out there for people to discover!

The first scripted video this week was on a topic dear and close to my heart: writing. As in, games largely have terrible writing and game writers are treated abysmally. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkTrV4lXDck

The second scripted piece was a quick review of a game I had been replaying again lately: Slipstream 5000! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JJKrP4SwQg

In random DOS game land Ski Jump International was a likeable shareware game that did exactly what it said in the title. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9mnMkXH31Y

Dated beat 'em up Kung Fu Louie wasn't too bad, but didn't get my pulse raised. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWs_Dp7s7KI

And last but not least there was an interesting top-down RPG that I'd never heard of before called Realm of The Paladin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=db3Pcu5Ed1o

October is approaching...temperatures are dropping... the solution? More DOS gaming videos! When? Next week, of course!

Update the eighty-sixth!

Lawnie has returned to the sounds of disinterested shrugs galore!

This week's scripted video was me complaining about the state of modern game design, and how games of the past actually managed to do it better in many cases! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLFUt_Bc5AM

There was also a channel update, if you're into those sorta things and like to keep tabs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixBvT0JC6eg

As for Random DOS game land? Nothing was particularly good this week. It does happen you know! But what's also surprising is the rarity with which it happens. Usually there's at least one interesting title to talk about each week. This week? Not so!

Expect more next week, from the ever-growing GET OFF MY LAWN channel... Lawnie... AWAY!

Update the eighty-seventh!

Like a man shaking his hands and introducing himself to his own immediate family members, Lawnie is back to update you even though you already know who he is!

This week's scripted video was my fourth Subscriber Showcase, where I shine a spotlight on people who follow me on YouTube and Twitter. There were some great up-and-comers and some notable names who joined me this time around! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lulfMAE8hbM

The second video? A Linux fix for the opengl scaling issues Nvidia users might have with Flatpak versions of DOSBox! Turns out the emulator was falling back to surface rendering because it couldn't initilise opengl, and you need to download a driver-specific runtime over terminal to fix that! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4D-MLtJqjs

As for Random DOS game land? The worst week ever. Only Around the World in 80 Days was even remotely enjoyable. An edutainment title from EA Kids that has good presentation and a nice concept. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJfCwU-k3Cs

Will I keep doing these updates? Possibly until 100. Then we'll see where we go from there.
