Here my 3rd chieftec which has a traditional beige color.
It's mainly a DirectX 8 , Win98SE machine for the time range 2001 / 2002.

The specs:

  • Celeron 1000A (tualatin core), clocked @1400Mhz , FSB 140Mhz.
  • socket A cooler, arctic cooling 3 copper silent lite, fan control with FAN mate 2.
  • QDI SynactiX 5EP rev.2.0 , Intel 815EP chipset, FC-PGA2 socket, UltraATA 100, 6 PCI, Sound Connector (PC-PCI / SB-Link)
  • 2x 256Mb SD-RAM PC133, so a total of 512 Mb ram. clocked @ 140Mhz , CL2.
  • Geforce 3 Ti 200, from MSI (/Medion) , 64Mb DDR ram.
  • PCI sound card - Terratec TT-SOLO1-SL - ES1938S
  • possible with MPU401: - Dreamblaster S2 and CHILL AND PHIL MPU401 ADAPTER
  • PCI sound card - Terratec XLerate - Aureal Vortex
  • IDE to SD adapter with a 32Gb SD card inside.
  • LG DVD Rom optical drive
  • 3.5" disk drive
  • Levicom WIN-400PS , ATX 420W
    (with recapped capacitors (the medium, big and biggest capacitors), also replaced the PSU fan with two 80mm Arctic F8 silent, also modifed with resistors)
  • 2x 80mm case fan's - Arctic F8 silent - with modifed with resistors
  • Chieftec big tower ATX case - beige

Possible clock speeds via mainboard jumper:
FSB 66Mhz --> celeron 667MHz
FSB 100Mhz --> celeron 1000MHz
FSB 133Mhz --> celeron 1333MHz

It's running cool and quiet with a moderate overclock of 1400MHz. For me it's good and not out of spec for a tualatin core.

For the backplate, i had to cut back the metal a little...

There are some LED's at the back. Very not typical for mainboards...

How did you remove heatsink on this particular model? Epoxy was used as TIM.

Socket 370 - platform for my little celeron.

EDIT:

I remenber that i've already re-capped one or two capacitors 19 months ago.

The remaining caps are looking OK, and if they are getting worse they will be removed.

Great idea running Celeron on higher FSB 😀. I have delidded 1100A and Epox 3PTA board. I'm seriously considering this.

Well, i really do not remember... Maybe i had to pull the heatsink with a force which is little bit than usual (compared to other heatsinks of this era).

At the end i was happy to remove it, on the chip are some marks anyway... It could be worse.
I have added Arctic MX-2 or MX4 , can't remember which one.

Yes, i think this cpu was a choice regarding the price / performance ratio.

I am playing Max Payne in 1280x1024 resolution but without AA.
It's running quite well with this system.

For comparison, i've estimated these values with benchmarks:

clocked @1000MHz
3DMarks 99 , 7111 , CPU Marks 14590
3DMarks 2000 , 6689

clocked @1400MHz
3DMarks 99 , 8260 , CPU Marks 20618
3DMarks 2000 , 8647

EDIT:
For a short comparison, i've overclocked the Geforce3 Ti 200 to GF3 values (200Mhz GPU / 230Mhz ram)
With my cooling it should be not a big problem for this card

3DMarks 99 , 8276 , CPU Marks 20472
3DMarks 2000 , 9006

Only for 3dmark2000 there is a little improvement. Not really a huge difference.
