Greetz All!
Here's my latest acquisition / renovation / build.
Stock specs were AMD K6-2 @ 300 mhz, M571 motherboard, 64 mb SDRAM. The AT style case has most of its hardware intact as well as the bracket+headers for the onboard motherboard features. It is in excellent condition and both CDROMs work fine. I like the bezel which holds the LEDs. There were no other cards installed in the system (onboard sound/VGA).
Even though it was described as 'working' a few fixes were needed to get it up and running, mainly disabling the motherboard cache and fixing a short. The master/slave settings were a mess for some reason too.
The motherboard supports both SDRAM and EDO, as well as AT and ATX style power connectors. The integrated sound, CMI 8330, can work in a variety of configurations but in my limited testing seems best as SB 16 (both DOS and Win98)
I'm not sure if I should keep the stickers, I kind of like them 🤣.
Modifications:
Added Nvidia MX200 and disabled onboard VGA
Overclocked FSB to 83 MHz
IDE-SD card for mass storage
To-Do:
More RAM?
Experiment with other CPUs?
Fix cache somehow?
Open to comments / ideas/ suggestions.... Thanks for checking it out!
