Found an IBM 330 450DX2 being sold on FB marketplace as a non working machine very cheap.

Decided to try it in the hope it might be something easy to fix.

Sadly, after opening the case found it was severly damaged with water.

I suspect some retro IBM fans might going to hate me for doing this, but considering original parts are very hard to find, and when they show up on ebay they usually come with unreasonable price tag, I decided to take the oportunity do something different and built with slightly modern hardware.

The original hardware is damaged beyond repair, but the case was in salvageable condition, so I took care of the rust and painted the case.

Bought a mini ITX board Asus H81I-plus, to install with 16gb DDR3 1600 and I5-4590 CPU.

Installed a floppy drive using an internal usb adapter.

Also needed to cut the back and drill some holes in the case to fit the new board.

This is how it currently looks.

Installed Windows 11.

Not sure if there is any sata DVD drive in white color. They are usually in black, so im using an old IDE Pioneer dvd drive, but im still waiting to receive an IDE to sata adapter to be able to use it.

Also waiting for a 512gb SSD drive to replace.

The BIOS boot image was modified with the IBM logo to make this build a tribute machine.

I approve! Otoh I'm not an IBM fan per se 🤣

Please use the "quote" option if asking questions to what I write - it will really up the chances of me noticing 😀

There are white SATA DVD/RW drives.
Nice project! I "hotrodded" IBM Netvista case with some mATX MSI H81 board and put i7-4790 in it, 16GB RAM, GTX 1070 ti 8GB, does everything I need 😀

Many 3Dfx and Pentium III-S stuff.
