Here is some info over 440BX running @ 133mhz and agp cards

I've heard the GeForce Ti series cards seem to handle it pretty well. I have a reference Ti4600 and a WinFast A250 I could test out. I also have a Voodoo5 5500 AGP that should be able to handle it as well, but I wasn't planning on running it in this box.

Edit: Scratch pushing these to 900, they don't seem to top out above 800Mhz before they get flaky. If there was finer adjustment over the FSB and voltage control, I bet they would go further, but the most I can get is 805Mhz and they can't seem to handle it.

My FX5950 Ultra runs unstable too on this board. I run my XG-DLS with 900MHz at stock. Antec Earthwatts 380W.

The FX5950 Ultra runs definately hot on this rig. Also the PSU is.

Well in my case, it turns out the card can probably hack it on higher AGP bus speeds, just turns out my 700/1MB Xeons top out at 785Mhz because stock voltages won't let me go any higher.

I would guess your card is unstable because it runs too hot. My card actually runs pretty cool, but I have a reference cooler with the blower duct drawing in decent airflow from some fans mounted in front of the case. I'll be putting up some newer pics of my rig soon and you'll see how everything is set up.

Only one at the moment. I live in a very small house. Not enough room for two retro's in the attick at the moment. The build is waiting for a better desk.

Know any place where I could get a pair of 900/2MB Xeons? So far I've only seen one listed on ebay.de and I like to buy in pairs. I've only searched using the stepping codes though, would you happen to know the equivalent OEM part numbers for them? I assume yours were from a server since they have the heatpipe coolers on them.

Latest pics. The rig is pretty much complete except for a pair of 900/2MBs.

I ended up adding a reinforcing member to the back panel of the motherboard tray, it was bowed slightly and my OCD was like, hell naw, we can fix that shit. Also reused my ghetto'd fan setup from the previous case, it's pretty much necessary for keeping the drives cool.

Might at some point replace the LED strip with a cold-cathode setup. My SCSI bay had a black faceplate, forgot where I put it though, will add that when I find it.

I clened it thouroughly. It's not lapped but I could see my face in the surface. Use Arctic ceramique cooling paste.

I bought them in the U.K. (ebay). They must be 2.8V. Most of the 900MHz Xeons are 5/12V, these are not compatible. The 5/12V hit the market earlyer than the 2.8V, but Intel find a bug in these, so they stopped selling 900MHz. Leaving only a few 900MHz 2.8V on the market.

@ m1919 Impressive - looks like an instrument module pulled from the Apollo capsule.

BTW, not being very familiar with dual cpu setups, how do they scale in game performance - similar to a single cpu with double the clock speed? I assume they were primarily intended for intensive number-crunching servers - does this translate well to gaming? Of course I assume so:)

They don't scale in games, but you can get smoother performance overall since you have two processors to handle system processes and other programs.

You don't need xeon power for a router hahaha 😀

Running Windows XP Pro SP3 with KoolSmoky's drivers. I think I was running the same drivers when I was running 2000 Pro previously.

XG-DLS board appears unstable now.

Last time I ran, was getting random lock ups in windows. I was thinking it's the memory or PSU, but given the age, I'm suspecting the board.

I'm thinking about recapping, but this would be my first. There are no obviously bad caps present, but at 17 years old I'm pretty sure there are some on there.

My xg-desk board is available now. I replaced it with a dual Tualatin. Didn't have to, just wanted to give the xeons a break.

I may have determined the issue, seems the adapter I'm using to add the 6-pin AUX could be the problem. All the pins where they have added in the additional cables for the 6-pin are loose and not secure in the connector, causing the pins to be pushed out when connecting to the 24-pin out of the PSU.

Guess I'll salvage the connector and create a new adapter from scratch and retest.

Any chance of getting your pictures rehosted somewhere, such as Imgur? They all show up as broken to me now, and your rig needs to be on display!

Did a bunch of testing, found my 700Mhz 2MB Xeons are not really stable when overclocking.

I'll tell you guys one thing tho, those 700Mhz 2MB Xeons running at 784Mhz with the WinFast A350 bumped my 3DMark2001 score to about 8200 3D marks. I'll upload a screeny of that later if I actually remembered to screenshot a couple runs.

Moved back to the 1MB procs. Also made some other config changes in the process, updated sig below for specs.
