The goal here was to recreate the system that got me through late high school and college.
The original system was: Intel D815EEA2-U, 1200mhz P3,512MB RAM, Voodoo5, SB Live. I'm going for a different video setup with the new build, but otherwise it will be very much the same.
Games intended to be played: Starseige Tribes, Quake 3, UT99, Star Trek Bridge Commander, Elite Force 1 & 2, and a mix of some older mid 90's DOS games.
a Teac DVD drive and floppy...
Evercool CPU cooler was a tight fit.
The CPU HSF is probably a tight fit due to the IHS of your Tualatin. It's a good idea to see if you can reduce the stress on those tabs/hooks/whatevers on the CPU socket before installing the CPU HSF. Many have had their tabs break due to stress while mounting the HSF and it's not unthinkable that it will seem to hold perfectly fine at first, but then break while relocating the case or even during a heavy gaming session (you wouldn't want that conductive metal brick to fall onto your inerts while the system is powered on) or even spontaneously while you're away from home.
I tend to prefer using CPU HSFs with the larger metal clip that latches onto 3 of those tabs each side instead of one that latches only on 1 each side (which will usually be the middle pair of tabs) as this reduces stress on the tabs by a lot!
What's the model number of your TEAC FDD?
The Intel D815EEA and D815EEA2 are kinda popular boards around here and I've used 2 D815EEAs myself (these don't support Tualatin and the D815EEA2 does). I found these to be solid boards, though lacking any BIOS setting flexibility (way fewer overclocking and tweaking options, if any).
What's the rails on your Antec? And what model number?
I suppose your intend is to install 98SE on it? One thing about the i815 chipsets is that they lack ISA slots (usually and if they do have ISA it will be bridged) so no ISA sound for your DOS games.
Your rig actually looks like a good candidate for WinME, but I'm not sure how DOS games will run on those (mine seemed to run fine, except a few older ones didn't have working sound or something 🤣).
Eager to see how your rig will turn out in the end 😀
