Eventually got around to repainting my desk, which had this super dark veneer, to something more life-affirming. I took the opportunity to also move it to the other side of the room so that the sunlight doesn't come from behind anymore.

The portable is a P1 133 MHz and the only retro computer I'm actually using right now. Daily driver in the desk is some HP i5 whosit that I got from a reseller 😀

The CRT is a 14" Eizo Flexscan 9065S-M, still in good shape. I actually don't use it very much, but it's nice to have the option.

that eizo is a beauty, I still have my original monitor, an EIZO 8060S EGA/VGA monitor from 1988, it is heavily yellowed, but it's been like that since 1996 already according to old photos ^^
it was my monitor for around 8 years or so, only in 1997 we got a newer 15" CRT, so it has seen heavy use already and has since lived tucked away in a closet.

You make me think I should appreciate it a little more!

This little area in my apartment is dedicated entirely for retro gaming. Table and shelf are DIY.

@oeuvre: those XPS towers are really good machines, I've been giving my XPS T500 a lot of use recently and it makes for a great Win98 box. Normally I don't like plastic-y cases but Dell really thought these ones through. Nice rig!

Finally made space in a little corner of my apartment to get this lovely machine set up "permanently." C64c, 1541-II, pair of Realistic Minimus 7s plugged into a great little Panasonic CD/tape/MD/aux mini system, '80s style lamp, video capture device, and a Master System controller because it's 2019 and I'd rather play 8-bit games with a gamepad, dammit.

Here's a close-up of some of the more interesting bits: Wi-fi adapter, dual-SID mod, and a 1541 Ultimate 2 with a whopping 512MB USB storage.

It's awesome to have this available so I can just sit down and use it when I want to, rather than having to lug it out of boxes every time. I spent a long time getting this rig together and it's a ton of fun exploring all the new homebrew & demoscene stuff that's still coming out for it.

The "modern" LCD panel isn't the most authentic thing in the world, but it's bright, vibrant, and lets the whole thing fit on this tiny desk in the first place, so I'm calling it a win.

I'm not very familiar with the C64, but that looks like one cozy setup that will let you enjoy the machine's sound capabilities! Good to see everything is in place to just... sit down and play some games.

Very nice xjas 😎 The SMS controller is the way to go with the C64, thumbs up. How are you connecting it to that LCD? I've tried a few things over the years but have settled on a Retrotink 2X -> HDMItoVGA -> Scanline generator -> VGA CRT. A ridiculous set up that I'm very proud of 🤣

My friend had an Amiga 500 and a Master System back in the early 90s. We always used the MS controllers to play Mortal Combat on the Amiga.

Thanks all! I binged on C64 games & demos until 2:30 AM the other night after I took the pics, so mission accomplished. 😉 Digiloi (pictured) is a current favorite with its amazing PETSCII artwork, and honorable mention to Spaceman Splorf which is a simple 1-button Flappy-Bird type navigator but is well worth checking out if you like classic cheesy sci-fi TV soundtracks.

Maybe this is disappointing, but I'm using good old composite video. This monitor has a pretty decent scaler / deinterlacer, so it looks OK. I should have a 7-pin DIN somewhere in my stash, so I can make a C64->S-video adapter, but this does the job for now.

I also have it daisy-chained into the video capture device because going through my stash of disks I discovered a few things that weren't on the internet yet. I wanted an easy way to make captures, etc.

The USB ethernet dongle is actually for the 1541 Ultimate II. It's a little redundant for BBSing since I have the wi-fi adapter, but you can do some interesting things over ethernet like telnet/ftp into it and control the C64 side remotely. TBH I haven't messed around with it much.

You guessed it! It's the mouse that's different. A few days ago I switch mice for my main computer; it used to be a black Dell mouse, but now I'm using a gray and black Logitech mouse.

I decided to switch to another mouse because this one is a little more durable than the other one.

What a wasting of a Voodoo3. Seriously, why? With that CPU, you can not even make full use of a Voodoo1.

I had that exact same case (actually five, four beige and one black, like yours), but have since sold them all off. I picked them up last year in the Great Pentium Pro Haul of 2018. I have the settings diagram for the MHz display for that case that I scanned in for Vogons member bjwil1991 a while back. Enjoy!

Here's a picture of my den ! Actually, I have a 486SX25 in the grey LianLi box, an IBM PC 350 (with a Pentium 75, at the bottom of the pile), a Celeron 333 with two Voodoo 2 (the black tower with the white DVD reader), a HP Vectra VL with a Pentium II 233 and a Matrox Mystique, and last but not least, a beautiful Epson EL3s.

All of that is connected through a KVM to a gorgeous Iiyama Vision Master Pro 455 (my second one, yeaaaaaars after the first).

And also my collection of old (or not so) consoles 😀
