In DOS you get SB 2.0, WSS, OPL3 and in Win 3.x you can use the OPL4 with the 2 MB wavetable.
The codec under the sticker is AD SoundPort AD1846JP.

Here's another oddity - the Digispeech DS201A "Speech & Music Unit."

ds201a_s.jpg

This little device has a number of things going for it. Using a customized DSP, it's capable of playing-back a number of different (and in some cases, esoteric) digital audio and speech synthesis formats, and is somewhat compatible with IBM's PS/2 Speech Adapter. (This functionality didn't work in two games I tried that supposedly have support for the IBM device.)

Here's an interesting bit of apocrypha to help describe the "music" side of the equation:

"The DS201 and DS201A Audio Adapters contain a three voice tone generator which emulates the Complex Sound Generator (SN76496N) device used in IBM PC-Junior and Tandy computers. The DIGI drivers provide BIOS-level compatibility for programs written for these machines via the INT 4D API."

Awesome, right?! Tandy music on your non-Tandy PC!

Well, not exactly, no.

First of all, the noise channel isn't "emulated," and second... I've not been able to get anything to play 3-voice music through this thing at all.

Did I mention that it plugs into a serial port? 😀

Tandy sound on a non tandy PC would be something awesome. I wonder if this could be possible by building some custom circuit.

Doesn't Tandy sound also require the game to be running with Tandy Graphics mode?

AD 1:

the Audiotrix Pro... daresay a collector would trade in 3 LAPC-Is or 2 IMFCs for that, if not more 😵

AD 2:

Seems it is for professional audio mixing and editing... Über expensive back in the day and seems pricey today as well:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Digital-Audio-Labs-Th … d-/370946525934

But see one of Rocco's ebay items for a short description:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-I-O-CardD-Card-D- … s-/200797686364

but here it is for brevity's sake:

"The cardD product line consists of three cards: the CardDplus, the I/OCardD, and the Digital Only CardD. The CardDplus proper provides 2 analog ins and 2 outs. The I/OCardD is a daughterboard which adds S/PDIF (digital) ins and outs. It requires a second slot, and connects to the CardDplus with an internal cable. If you do not need any analog I/O, you can get the stand-alone Digital Only CardD. "

1) IBM Music Feature Card

2) Do not mention it 😀 Mind the spelling - "The CardD" with double "D"s. If you search for "The Card" you will end up with nothing 😀

The Audiotrix Pro is uncommon, but certainly not so rare or desirable as to command that kind of trade. The expansion boards seem to be exceptionally rare, however, so an expanded ATP might be considerably more valuable.

What additional "samples" are you interested in, Stojke?

I am sure Jolaes76 was sarcastic.... correct me if I am wrong, but the CardD is an audio production card, right?

No and yes 😀

No - I was serious. I respectfully disagree with Eric, I still think someone who collects on the principle of rarity only would trade in 2 or 3 lesser rarities for a big one. And I meant the "NOS - mint - with-the-daughterboard in the f******-exclusive-golden-sleeved-box item" 😎 but I really have not seen a SINGLE, loose Auditrix board on ebay, though I am a regular and methodical seeker for a while (not exactly for an Audiotrix card, but it is on list nevertheless)

Yes - the CarD is for audio production.

Don't give up hope. The ATP pictured in the QuestStudios thread (with the attached DSP/Voice daughterboard) was a loose eBay listing. These were all eBay as well...

audiotrix.jpg

Just be forewarned that you'll have some competition if ever a listing includes either the Multi CD-ROM or DVC/Phone daughterboards... 😈
