It's a shame you can't use dual CPU's in Windows 9x because I believe this would make a great 9x gaming rig

You can pick up a couple of socket 370 adaptors and run the 1.4GHz Tualatin PIII CPU's but it wouldn't really be suited for such a clean setup!

You did what I want to do! green fans on green boards and in a nice modern case. But then you go and top it with a duel slot 1 system with 2 Voodoo 2 cards (A secret fantasy of mine)
Re the SCSI drives. I've just successfully tried a Ultra 72GB in my old Prolant 1600 even though all the documentation says 36GB was the max

my dual 800Mhz PIII build is finished, finally managed to find silver DVD and floppy drives to go along with it, sadly the webcam makes the case look duller.

Very nice, I do like the understated silver cases from that era very much, bet it looks even better in the flesh 😀

the aluminum case really gives the computer a classy look to it, compared to the beige or coloured plastic cases that existed at the time, it also keeps this build cool, the CPUs stay at around 34C , while the motherboard never goes over 25C, even after gaming for a while.

one weird thing this motherboard does do however, is that it powers on the second I plug it into the wall , also when turned off , the mouse still has power going to it, Ive heard of these kind of things being common on server boards and such and I guess it would be useful for that

Ist the PIII coppermine with 3DFX voodoo 5, the drives always look yellow in photo's but they are nice and white in reality.

Next up is my regular use browser/XP gaming do-it-all box, it's a P4 nothwood with Geforce FX, CPU speed and FX variant depends on the day.... 😀

My Win 7 rig is on the left in the OCZ case, it's a Core 2 Quad Q6600 with a Geforce 7900GS, the one on the left is a Pentium D 930 with a Radeon IGP based board.

This is a P4 630 on a 915 intel board, with a Geforce 210 plugged into the telly via HDMI for media stuff. The case in a Evesham micros rescued from the bin.

And finally my little Cedar Mill machine, 3.2 gig D0 stepping(runs as cool as a cucumber even it this tiny case) on Asrock 775i65g ver 2, with 1 terrabyte HD, mostly used for storage for the other stuff on the network.

As you can tell, I do like Netburst machines, mostly because of price and availability I suppose, but it's neat you can go from 1.4 Ghz to 3.6Ghz all on the same board 😀 I currently have 25 different Netburst CPU's in my collection........no I'm not obsessed................. 😀

i want change cables to white color and reapply shrinking tubes at the end cables like (this).. Currently it look ugly
about dual cpu.. i`m think need make multiboot system with dos/win98/win2000.. maybe xp

Relevant to thread: here's the latest build I've finished. The "dust" in the first picture is actually lint - I took the case apart and washed it, and apparently the towel I used to dry it wasn't the best choice for an all-black surface and subsequent flash photography.

It has an Athlon64 dual-core 2GHz, a pair of 7950GX2s in QuadSLI, and 1GB of RAM (will probably expand that before too long). Originally I was thinking about putting some DirectX 9 games on it, but given how well it did through 3DMark 2001 with SLI-AA enabled, I'm thinking it might instead see use for older games with silly-high IQ settings enabled (honestly playing Unreal or Quake with everything cranked and 32x AA sounds more fun than watching it dog through Fallout 3, especially when I have a newer machine available for that).

This is a true "sleeper" build where the snail-like shape of the case may suggest a slow system, but surprises everyone with QuadSLI power! 🤣, but honestly it is a very cool build! Is that a Lian Li case by any chance? Anyway...I have never seen one like that before...looks to be very well built too and plenty of room to work with inside. Are you running XP? If so, I would for sure up the RAM by 1GB since memory for that system can be had for so cheap now, but I don't know if it will make a big difference though.

XP Pro SP2 yeah, and I was thinking about taking it to 3GB since a 2GB kit is like $25 on Amazon (I was looking at this one: http://www.amazon.com/KOMPUTERBAY-400Mhz-PC32 … /dp/B003CH6ZR0/ and since I don't have any other machines that use DDR1, I figured I'd just leave the existing memory in there for 3GB total); 1GB is just what I had on hand when I put it together. It's been okay running benchmarks and tooling around in Windows, but I'm vaguely remembering even games like Oblivion and Hitman 3 being capable of using at least a few hundred MB of RAM, and you're exactly right about memory being so cheap anymore.

Yes it's a Lian-Li; it's an older model, I think it was new in 2002 or 2003, it says "20 Anniversary" on it (it's hard to see in person with a flashlight, it's almost impossible to see in the picture 😵). Model # is PC-777 or PC-B777 or something like that; I've seen pictures of a black/white (silver?) version, but this is the only example I've ever seen in person. It originally had a Pentium 4 in it if I remember right; it really wasn't a fast system to start out. 😜 As far as working space, it's not bad, but it isn't as wide-open as some full towers (mostly at the top and bottom, where it "curves").

Go for the 3gb if you can....but I have to say that pc3200 ddr1 can be had for a lot cheaper on ebay or even in local classifieds...but that's not too bad of a deal. Yeah for hitman I think you'll notice the extra ram making a difference.

The great thing about those lian Li cases is the hdd bays being turned and I remember a lot of those cases from that vintage to have pull out trays for the motherboard which made them easy to work on your system.

On this one the MB tray isn't I think "designed" to be removed - you can pull some screws/bolts and it comes out pretty simple, but it isn't a slide-out/pop-out like I've seen on some other cases. I don't think it would come out very easily with the MB attached. The HDD bays are turned, but I couldn't put my 2.5" drive in there (I know that a 3.5" would fit, but that's not what I used for this build, so I just have the drive in an adapter in one of the many 5.25" bays).

Thanks chap, yes I'm really fond of it too. I bought it new about 10 years ago along with a gigabyte P4 titan board and FX 5500(all of witch is still around, board is still in case, but FX is now a FX5900XT). We have always called the machine "Darth Vader's suitcase, still the name it has on the network today 😀
