Which frequency is safe on IP3 500? 124MHz FSB (cant go higher) is quite Stable Prime95 - 6 hours OK 😀 IP3 550 is veery bad for overclock - cant go stable on 112 fsb and above.. 😒

I wouldn't overclock old hardware at all.

If a PIII is too slow, get a P4.

THIS. The risk/reward just isn't there.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

Crysis was one of the most demanding games of 2007. There is no way a Tualatin could run this game smoothly. It "may" run "ok" (doubt it) with the lowest possible settings but otherwise no chance.

Remember, the P3 1400-S Tualatin got released back in 2001. I'm also pretty sure most socket 370 boards only have an AGP 4x slot so wouldn't be able to take full advantage of more modern AGP 8x cards. My Pentium 4 3.4Ghz + 6800 GT rig cant even run this game properly. By properly I mean on decent settings. To me, If I cant run a game on med-high settings then I don't bother playing it. Nothing worse than the framerate dropping in the heat of battle.

Check out the system requirements: http://gamesystemrequirements.com/games.php?id=48

I also strongly agree with this. Old hardware is so cheap these days that it makes no sense to try push your system for better performance and in doing so delay the lifespan of your hardware. These days, if you know what games you'd like to play, you can just purchase the appropriate motherboard/graphics card/cpu for dirt cheap. I suppose, each to their own though because I know some people do it for the fun of it.

It is kind of a placebo effect; but getting the most out of your hardware sometimes feels so fullfilling...

Wait, you got Crysis running on your Tualatin?

Yes with X850XT 256M on Abit VH6T with max RAM but only run, not playable (you can see 11fps on the screenshot) 😘

Kimberly,

You've got some really cool setups out there! The PCs look clean and the cables are well-managed. Why did you change 1.4 Tualatin for 1GHz part?

Guys and gals then 😈

I seriously doubt a lot of girls are into overclocking 😀

Wise choice for the PSU.I see it's a Delta anyway, and those are very good and rock stable.I remember I managed to get the juice from a 110W PSU using a PCChips motherboard. Also,I thought the video card was from ASUS,until I read that it was Chaintech. 🤣

I didn't notice.I was looking at the first 2 pics and I saw that the PSU was a Delta.
