DAMN DUDE! pop in 2gb of ram and you could run or dual boot with windows 7 given the correct optimizations.

I found a AMD windows 7 compaq laptop. Missing the DDR3 ram and HDD - is it even worth it? Maybe, I just am focused on upgrading my main desktop now.
Main: AMD FX 6300 six core 3.5ghz (OC 4ghz)
16gb DDR3, Nvidia Geforce GT740 4gb Gfx card, running Win7 Ultimate x64
Linux: AMD Athlon 64 4000+, 1.5GB DDR, Nvidia Quadro FX1700 running Debian Jessie 8.4.0

This laptop only supports up to 1.5GB of RAM. 512MB is soldered to the motherboard and the single DIMM slot takes up to 1GB.
Win7 on this machine isn't very fun. Video performance is quite poor using XDDM drivers for the Radeon 9000 IGP.

Nice find! I was walking the other day and came across two laptops on the curb. One was in bad shape but the other was a nice toshiba a505 with a core 2 duo, 500gb drive, 4gb ddr3, nice big screen. The keyboard didn't work but it powered right up. $11 later I replaced the keyboard and it works perfect! Even had the power cord, the battery holds a nice charge, and there was a nice Swiss army case too. I already have an i5 laptop but this will be a great backup/beater to use when I don't want to carry the i5 around.
