Out of sheer curiosity once again, I installed MDK and MDK2 to see if they would work. To my surprise both did and really well, so I went ahead and got some game benchmarks ^^.
Since MDK is limited to 640x480 and capped at 30 FPS, I just ran the built-in performance test:
DirectDraw - PNY Verto GeForce 6600
Direct3D - PNY Verto GeForce 6600
Aaahhh yes! Ludicrous Speed, Engage! 🤣 🤣
MDK2 results were more down to earth by comparison 😊 (all done with OpenGL and 32-bit true color):
640x480=207.69 FPS
800x600=199.83 FPS
1024x768=198.57 FPS
1152x864=191.53 FPS
Since MDK2 supports widescreen resolutions I added two more test runs, 1280x720 and 1600x900 😎
1280x720=193.95 FPS
1600x900=149.12 FPS
Too bad game text gets stretched, but graphics look right on 😁
Ooohh, the pain......
