Hello!

I already had rebuilt my old Pentium on the original AT case, but the arrival of the Intel motherboard made me think twice.
Since I had all the needed parts, I just took another route...

Hope you guys like it!

Case: Chieftec DG-01WD
Motherboard: Intel TC430HX
CPU: Intel Pentium 166MHz
Memory: 4x 16MB EDO
Graphics: S3 Virge/DX 4MB
Sound Card: sound Blaster 16 CT2290
PSU: crappy Coolbox 500W (LOL) modded with NoiseBlocker 120mm Fan
Hard Disk: Seagate ST320011A 20GB
Optical: Opticard ND-3570A
Network: Realtek RTL8139

I got that board myself and it is one of the more interesting boards to have as it has real opl3 right on the board, some boards come with the general midi option.

Intel boards from this period often have yamaha for integrated audio.

On a far away planet reading your posts in the year 10,191.

Your rig looks perfectly fine 😁

Theres I think several other Vogoners who own an ATX HX board, too bad I'm not one of them, so enjoy! 😁

I actually like the case as well. Good cooling too, though I doubt you'll actually need it in your current configuration 😀.

Nice time machine you built there. What are your plans for it?

Thank you! I plan to play some games like Civilization, Colonization, Settlers 2, Ultima Underworld 1 + 2, get back to my old Transport Tycoon Deluxe savegames, also for some demos and MOD/XM. Win98 for network.

This one has the YMF704S and YMF7018-3 but I'm not using them, not even the onboard S3 Virge/DX as it's a 2MB model.

Thank you! This case had a PentiumD running several years till the motherboard failed completely, so I got the case before someone took it to the dumpster.
These cases are very sturdy and included a Delta-made Chieftec PSU. My main PC has a older very similar case but beige colored, so if I put them side by side they make a nice pair 😀

Nice looking mobo and system, I never seen that antec case in flat black. Was it painted?

The case is Chieftech?

A Dragon...something I think? But iirc there were several case manufacturers making cases in this particular style for a short time.

Yes, it's a Chieftec Dragon something 😜
Seems that the OEM was Chenming, they supplied to Chieftec, Enermax, Antec and some others.

Also the paint is original, not a real black but dark gray instead.
If you guys have the chance to get one, don't let it go. This thing is heavy and high quality.

I had a very similar Chieftec Dragon case, same colour and a side window. Almost feels sad for letting it go now but I know who has it so might buy it back one day 😀

Hi nforce4max, how would you use an opl3 ymf card on dos ?
