I initially started this build with an AT case and board but quickly moved on to ATX when I found a quality ATX Socket 7 motherboard. I've been installing games on it for days now and it has finally come to the point where I can image the Hard Drive and be done. After replacing a CD-ROM that flat out went *clank* and died on me the other day I'm finally done with this build, and honestly, playing games on it is more fun and rewarding than I thought it would be. People who I know visit Vogons helped me in obtaining several parts for this build, so thank you kindly for your contributions. Without further ado, here it is.

I love this system. I considered replacing the 3D Accelerator with a Voodoo 1 so that it would be more correct, but screw that - 800x600 is too good to pass up. My two regrets are cheaping out when buying the sound card and not getting the Gold for a marginal amount more, and not getting the motherboard with an MMX 233MHz on offer with it; but I'm happy with how it turned out nonetheless.

Now, if you will excuse me, I need to play some Jane's F-15 in glorious 3dfx glide..

Cool! I remember having a 166 as a kid, sadly it lacked a 3D card. 🙁

Pentium III @ 1.28Ghz - Intel SE440xBX-2 - 384MB PC100 - ATi Radeon DDR 64MB @ 200/186 - SB Live! 5.1 - Windows ME

To be honest, the only 3D card you could have with a 166 was a Voodoo 1, and I don't have one. Hence, the Voodoo 2. It also brings with it the comfort of gaming at 800x600, but I'd still consider switching it out for a Voodoo 1 if I found one, someday. That would free up the Voodoo 2 (maybe SLI if I ever find another Creative 12MB card) for a Pentium II build (for which I'll use a Voodoo 3 for now..) where it would be more contemporary - this would let me then move the Voodoo 3 to a Coppermine/Tualatin Pentium III/Celeron. For now, it is what it is 😀
