I don't think you will need to change any PALs. First I would check if all the address lines for the cache have been wired to the chipset. If they have, then all you should have to do is add a few wires to the chipset to set the cache size. I believe it is documented in the CS82310 databook.

I also have the Abit FU340 Mainboard, but mine is missing the PAL next to the Coprocessor socket.
Would it be possible for you, to send me the content and tell me the type of the PAL, please?

I can try, but If the fuses are blown you might be SOL.

I looked at the IC on my board. These are the markings:

A458-00-1BS 9148

The last four digits are obviously a date code, but are the rest a model number? There's no manufacturer ID, so do we know for sure it's even a PAL?

I didn't remove the IC from the socket, but you're right...16L8 does kind of sound like a PAL. I'll see what kind of PALs my EEPROM programmer can take and try to read it.
