I bought an HP internal DAT drive and fitted it recently (no reason, just always wanted one 😁) and tried a full backup and verify and... machine froze halfway through. Tried again and... same. Anyhow, on a whim, I decided to refit the original P166 MMX the system came with and try again. 3 1/2 hours later, full 7GB backup and verify completed successfully. Just to confirm, I ran another full backup and verify and perfect!

I did a bit of googling and read that the P166 MMX CPUs were generally very overclockable so I whipped off the extra jumper I'd refitted and it runs just fine at 200MHz 😁.

PS. Just to add, I run a very good CPU cooler made of solid copper with a good fan so thermals aren't an issue here.

nice solution! I'd probably leave it at 166, who needs more than that right 😀 anyway, you now have your 200mmx no freezes plus nice cooling system
