Hi,
A very short question:
Will the compression of DosBox executable (eg with upx) have any influence i.e. slow down the emulation?

You’re right, relative to the performance of dosbox, the file is really compact. I should probably break off my old (bad) habit. On the other hand, you can compress it to the third of its original size and I install (copy) it together with any game, also with very small ones.

Thanks a lot for the answer

it's compressed in the installer.
you can compress the exe yourself if you wan't there is nothing to gain and little to loose:
I think there were some crashes in one of the cvs builds because of the compression system. Somehow the initial starting memory of dosbox become different or so. dunno exactly.

I use both UPX and UPACK but I leave most of my executables uncompressed now, because I am using NTFS compression (It yields about 33% compression ratio for DOSBox main executable). Anyway, sometimes you gain up a little space compressing an executable first.

As DosFreak and Qbix have stated earlier: There is little gain nor lose here. Your call, though.
