And which are not so well supported by newer ones ? And if yes, why is that ?

So, is there any point in having older DOSBox versions or should the latest one be always preferred ?

Um it requires <2mb of disk space, doesn't clutter your registry,
so where's the problem in leaving some old version installed in
case you wanna test something?
It can't be avoided that a new version breaks a few games and
introduces other bugs. But 0.72 should be quite fine.

Actually it's 0.72 that made me ask. I was running SWOS fine with two joysticks in 0.71 (for the first time!) but two joysticks seem to not work anymore for this game in 0.72.

Um, this may be stupid since I didn't check conf compatibility between versions, so I just copied the conf from the 0.71 directory (and then tried to calibrate from the installation, but I can't calibrate correctly anymore). Is there a change in conf file structure between versions as far as joysticks are concerned ?

ETA: Not from what I see in the descriptions.
