I was planning to download and install DBoxFE. DOSbox 7.2 is recommended. I have 6.5. I don't remember how or where I got my copy, but I at present there's no download specifically for Ubuntu or Debian on the BOSbox website. Which one should I use?

Thanks. They seem a little too cutting edge for me. I'm new to Linux, using DOSbox to run a DOS application, a very special text editor/outliner/idea processor that I've been using since 1985. And I use it a lot.

Currently it's running -- without any problem -- in the small default window with white text on a black background. I'd like a larger window and to be able to reverse the colors of the display -- to get black text on a white background.

I was hoping that one of the graphic front ends might help me get that. Otherwise I'm perfectly happy with DOSbox.

Thanks again,

ubuntu 7.10 comes with 0.71
the larger window is possible with 0.65

for reversing the colours you either have to play with the source or use some sort of ansi escape ocode

Well maybe I should just wait then. Ubtuntu's been an experiment for me that seems to be working. After I upgrade my machine -- or buy a new one -- I'll upgrade to Ubuntu 7.10.

Glad to hear that DOSbox is on 7.10. As I say, I don't remember where I got my copy, but as far as 7.4 is concerned, it still doesn't exist. It doesn't show up as installed in any of the package managers.

Good. How do I get it? I'm OK with the terminal as long as someone else gives me the commands. Is this something a GUI would help with?

Umm. I imagine that's a bit too cutting edge for me, too.
