My questions Are:

- ¿Is it any other way to set windows 98 resolution useing the Generic Drivers?

Tnx.. ^^

You could try QuickRes.

98 has never been very stable in DOSBox so unless you modified DOSBox yourself I wouldn't expect much from it.

Straight CVS 95B is the most stable.

DOSBox 0.72 and earlier can't do higher resolutions than that in W9x. Latest CVS emulates a S3 Trio64 (no V+) graphics card.

Tnx guys!. Now i need to know whatkind of VGA uses the DOSBox 0.63 CVS (15.02.2006) PocketPC Port version. Does it still uses S3 Drivers? Tnx..

I need to use Low-Res! 320x240x16 or 320x200x16

TNX ^^

I don't think Windows 9x works in 0.63 although I could be wrong.

Yes, it's still an S3 Trio.

Also I think with plain CVS I've only ever been able to get 256 colors. Not sure if this is true with the latest CVS.

Would have been an interesting way to get Win9x/ME games working in XP. 😀

Seems us late comers can only download ACT 5.0. Not sure if it works as well in XP for Win9x/ME games. Looks to be geared more towards Vista OS.

I've installed Windows 98 by using QEMU. Works fine.

That's the true way.

If you trust Microsoft you could also try Virtual PC 2007:

what would be the application for? Showing off 'ha ha my pocket pc is teh best it bots widows' or seriously playing games at 1fps? This is no better than PSP users showing off Windows 98 running at less-than-molasses with Bochs.

Quick guide to install Windows 9x in Any DosBox Version.

You have to use a Hard disk image to propelly boot win95/98
to do it you have to create your Hard disk image, useing a bochs utility (bximage.exe).
Imput hd flat (size) and then note the Cylis numer ( for 50Mb HH is 101)

Load the image like this:

1)Boot a normal DosBox (disable all memory extensions)

2)imgmount 2 win98.img -size 512,63,16,406 -fs none ( note that the 406 are the cylinders you get when creating the image in bochs utility)

3)Donload and Dos 6.22 disk image and load it after mounting the img like this:

boot DOS622.img

4)After booting, run Fdisk and hit y and Intro to create a Primary dos Partition. Cloes DosBox and reopen

5) Now reload your .img like this:

imgmmount c win98.img -size 512,63,16,406 -fs fat (now use fat and specify a drive letter)

6) Boot again the 6.22 bootdisk image, then do a format C: /s .Restar DosBox.

7)Load the 98/95 image again (like in step 5) without booting the imagedisk and copy your win98/95 install files and copy them into the new HHD image in C.

8)After you copied the win instalation, boot the DOS6.22 image for example) then run your windows installation normally.

9)When system restarts close your dosbox, then use this:

imgmmount c win98.img -size 512,63,16,406 -fs fat
boot -l c

This will boot your windows

or simply do boot win98.img

Then you can add to your DosBox Autoexec.bat this lines and it will Boot automatically ^^

Remember to disable the XMS and other memory extension from DosBox, or windows won't boot ( becouse windows loads it ows memory drivers)

Srry about my english!! Lol... I'm From Argentina.

Its a Quick Quick guide, may have errors, my apologizes..Hope this works for Those who doesn't kwnow how to make it work..

Yeah and as closing comment it should be noted that it is not supported,
you'll get problems with running apps, and people should be using bochs
or virtualizing software for that.
