Im aware of the different filters available in dosbox (esp in some cvs builds), unfortunately, those i kinda like don't support 4:3 aspect ratio (rgb filter, scanlines...).

Would you consider adding something like "bilinear-plus" (which is in vba and exult for instance) or even better, "overlay effects" (as in Mame), which seem to be simple and portable, and gives amazing results, please have a look here :
