hallo,

I wish to install DOS-BOX on a computer with Windows 98SE. The problem is that I don´t have any sound drivers for this computer. Does DOS-BOX use the win98SE sounddrivers or does it bring its own drivers along?

Thx.

DOSBox don't install any drivers. All sound and graphics are sent to the operating system which has to magically figure out how to make it work.

Are they not included with the operating system?

unfortunately not! 🙁

The hardware I use (ASUS eeepc) doesn´t have any drivers for win 98. And I don´t want to waste resources for win xp or win 2k.

dos-box does emulate all the old soundcards and therefore i wasn´t sure if i had to install any sounddriver for win 98 at all.

I hoped dos-box does the job for me and recognize the propriate drivers (or emulates) and communicates with the sound chip in my computer.

But it seems that I´ve been caught in a one-way street!

dosbox emulates it alright. but it does need to send the output to your soundcard as well. For that drivers are needed.
