I want to run an OLD application on DOSbox.
I tried it on 640x480 VGA mode and it works, but badly, since the application was designed to work onMatheus 1280x1024 cards, and 1024x800 on old Trident SVGA cards.
Can I specify something better then VGA under the "machine" command on the "dosbox.conf"?
Or may be there is an other way to get higher resolution?
Thanks
Eli

More info:
In the old DOS system the PCAD runed with the followings display drivers:
DMAT1280.DRV for 1280x1024
DVMI1024 for 1024x768 and
T1024.DRV for 1024x768, this last runs on a Video card Trident TGUI9440

The last card I can confirm it still working on my old old PC.

Are some of this drivers compatible with DOSbox, or there is a way to make them compatible?
Else may be there are other PCAD high resolution drivers that are compatible?

Thanks
Eli

Default svga graphics chip is S3 (trio32/64), maybe that's an option.
Other than that VESA/VESA2 are supported, which is the most compatible
choice if available.

Only the oldest of the oldest are supported by that program (list of pcad 4.5). Most of these adapters seem pre-VGA. None except the IBM ones look familiar to me.

In my case is PCAD 8.5
The driver I use in the DOS System is T1024.DRV, I am using it with a Trident SVGA card with the chipset TGUI9440.
Is post VGA.
I can use the application in a window (no need for fullscreen) but when I start PCAD with T1024.DRV I get garbaje on the window, instead of graphics. There are no crashes nor errors, but the SVGA is not correctly emulated.

How can I run this application at 1024x768 under DOSbox?

Thanks
Eli

Trident isn't supported in DOSBox. For the other one I don't know what chipset hides behind the name, you could try if machine=et4000/et3000/pvga1a work.

If possible post a list with the drivers the version 8.5 supports, maybe there is a compatible one among them.

Search for video card drivers that include pcad support, in which the chipset is one of the chipsets dosbox supports; tseng et3000 or et4000, paradise pvga1a, xga-2, s3 based(supposed to be trio64 though programs will detect it as other s3 chips, so try any s3.)

http://74.6.239.67/search/cache?ei=UTF-8&p=PC … &icp=1&.intl=us

Try searches like "pcad drivers tseng," "pcad drivers s3," etc.

According to this post:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pcadusers/message/3708

vesa pcad drivers exist.

Thanks,
I am looking for VESA, Tseng ET3000 ET4000 or S3 drivers.
Till yet without luck, in the meantime this is the list of high resolution display drivers I have: DMAT1280, DV71024, T1024 and DVMI1024.
A short list as you see
I'll keep looking, if I found one I publish it here for completness.
Thanks
Eli

I found it !
the driver is DVESA256.DRV and is contained in a zip called DVESA201, this can be downloaded from:
http://www.owa.mv.ru/PCAD_45/

I successfully activated PCAD at 1024x768 after configuring the driver for his resolution.

Running the EXE program in the zip: DVESACFG under cmd or command (no DOSbox) 11 options will be available up to 1600x1200 and including 1280x1024 and 1400x1050 (Best for my LCD) but none of those options will work under DOSbox.
Running the EXE program under DOSbox there are only 9 options only up-to 1024x768, I guess the limitation here is DOSbox emulation.

There is some possibility to rise the resolution to the higher levels?
Thanks
Eli

Thanks, in your build really the DVESACFG detects 16 resolutions, including the 1400x1050.
I activated PCAD 8.5 in 1400x1050 and it looks OK
Very good, and thanks again
