Maxrun.exe -fC:\MAX is what is contained within the MAXRUN.BAT file. I didn't make this file and i didn't code the game so i have no idea why the contents are as they are.

Regardless of the above I've attempted to run the .EXE directly from its location as i mentioned before therefore avoiding using the MAX.BAT and MAXRUN.BAT files but without any luck.

What exactly do you mean by exact mountings? Ive listed every step i took to the best of my knowledge...

Delete everything concerning that installation on your PC, and redo the
installation noting down what you mount and how, and how you start
the installation, same when running the game.
What you posted as mountings (replace ~ with c: ) would NOT work for sure.

I don't understand why you think that wouldn't work.

mount c ~/INTRPLAY/MAX is pointing to my MAC local os x folder which contains INTRPLAY/MAX folder.

mount c c:\INTRPLAY/MAX points to my PC root hard drive which contains INTERPLAY/MAX folder

As already noted several times these mountings are WRONG, use the ones
you used during installation of the games, unless you have a
c:\INTRPLAY\MAX\INTRPLAY\MAX installation.

Does "C:\INTRPLAY\MAX" contain yet another "INTRPLAY\MAX" directory? Likely not.

Here's how it should be (Just like a real DOS system):

C:\ - NO GAME FILES SHOULD BE IN THIS directory.
C:\INTRPLAY - Directory created by installer for organizational purposes.
C:\INTRPLAY\MAX - Where game files reside.

When you launch DOSBox you or a script must have to navigate to c:\INTRPLAY\MAX. If not and you are just running executables in the root of c:\ then you are wrong and you FAIL.

You've completely lost me, if the mountings are incorrrect then command c:\dir would not bring up the contents of the folder after i have mounted.

It works on the other 2 machines and that will do for me. I think ill just forget about this mac.

Cheers anyway

Appreciate the reply man, when i get home ill go over everything i've done and make sure i've not made a mistake in my explanation. I'm sure i must have since you seem so adamant in your response.

"then you are wrong and you FAIL."

My not understanding the process doesn't mean you have to be a cock.

The mountings are incorrect in that the game expects the correct directory
structure, and NOT that you can "dir" some files.

I know h-a-l. This thread is an execellent example of why I often encourage file-robbers to ask themselvs this question:

Is my time spent in getting this illegal copy to work in DOSBox worth more to me, than the costs of buying a legally licensed copy of the game on eBay, Amazon or some other reputable site?

And your telling me that if i had purchased the game for the pittance its worth these days i would not have any problems?

I would just own a physical copy of the disk as opposed to an digital ISO solving absolutely nothing.

Its not crysis we are talking here, its an 11 year old game on sale for around £2.

Anyway your help is appreciated, the problem is solved an future ill be more informed.

Cheers

The point is we don't have any idea if the .ISO was unmodified. Just because it's in .ISO form doesn't mean squat whereas a stamped CD is likely to be legit.

Any time someone mentions that they "downloaded" a game we will automatically assume so called "abandonware" and we will automatically assume that the game has been modified in some form. That's pretty much true in most cases of people coming here for help with their "abandonware".

Guys, downloaded doesn't always mean warez, You know that (pay2download); Gus, if in need of help, every info might be important (unless it regards warez!). Also Gus, I encourage You to use a DOSbox frontend (if it's available for Your OS) if things get too hard.

I see your point about the downloaded version, currently downloading a paid for copy plus M.A.X 2 for $5.99...not bad.

Ill check out the front-end options cheers oolie
