I'm running DOSBox 73 in Snow Leopard via Terminal. When I quit the session, the following message appears:

2009-11-12 21:58:47.491 dosbox[1160:903] Warning once: This application, or a library it uses, is using NSQuickDrawView, which has been deprecated. Apps should cease use of QuickDraw and move to Quartz.

Does anyone have any idea what this signifies, including the possibility that the screen appearance in DOSBox could be improved by using a different rendering mode (if that is the correct terminology)?

Thank you.[/list]

Thank you,

DrFred

It says that SDL, the underlying cross platform library used by Dosbox was built with Quickdraw and not Quartz.
This is not a problem and if you'd do your own built of Dosbox on Snow Leopard this message wouldn't appear 😀

Thanks for the interpretation. Wonder if it has any significance regarding actual performance. I don't know how to do my own build, and what I have works fine, so I guess it'll stay a solved curiosity.

Thank you,

There is no performance gain or loss. The 0.73 release has a lot of performance tricks added anyway, not much more to gain 😀 (just use opengl as output)
