I hope this is the right place to post this query.

The game I'm trying to run is on a CD. I've transferred the files from that CD to a directory on the hard drive and typed 'install' to get the game loaded.

I get an screen from the origonal game saying that my CD does not support a transfer rate high enough and won't let me go any further. Any aideahow I can get round this?

I followed the guide (as specified in the previous post) and when I run the INSTALL program for ONE of my games, it checks the CDROM for speed and says it is too slow (it's a 48X CD).

I have already installed 2 other games without a problem.

I did not see anyplace in the guide for telling DOSBOX about the speed of my device. My CPU is 3.3 GHZ quad-core machine. DO I need to incresae the DOSBOX cycles option value? I have looked at the MSCDEX parameters and didn't see anything there about speed either.

What game is it?
What are the mounting commands?
Why not make an ISO instead of using a directory?

Star Trek TNG "A Final Unity". I found how to mount a file in a folder as a CDROM. But that uses up space on my HDD. I'd still like to solve the original problem.

After you install it, then you can go back to using the original CD-ROM, in theory. (Or you can get a bigger hard drive; they're cheap enough nowadays. 🤣 )

Have you searched this board for other topics about A Final Unity? I'm sure it has come up before.
