I understand why the Wiki was locked down from editing. Constantly battling spambots is tiresome. However, looking through the games on the Wiki I noticed that there are a lot of errors. Most of these are just minor, like links that need to be fixed, but some of the errors are just plain misinformation.

GAMES:Red Baron

The game Red Baron is the same game as Sopwith1

Sopwith is a CGA side scroller from BMB Compuscience in 1985 and Red Baron is a full blown flight sim in VGA from Dynamix in 1990.

Instead of locking down the Wiki from editing, how about just disabling self registration? This would prevent bots from having access to the Wiki, but at least some legitimate contributors could keep it up to date and fix errors.

gotta love those abandonware kids!

p.s. there is an actual sopwith1 hack named "Red Baron", it is an illicitly "public domain" redistrib

After looking, I found the Red Baron retitled from Sopwith that you mentioned. The page should be the Dynamix game, not an abandonware hacked game.

In any case this is the kind of thing that could be dealt with on the discussion pages on the Wiki, if editors still had access, which is what this thread is about.
