Keyboard stops working properly in DOSBox 0.74 on Ubuntu.

Hi

If you switch between DOSBox fullscreen and windowed size, come out of DOSBox, then go back into DOSBox, the keyboard quite often misbehaves in DOSBox; for example the Esc key stops working in a game.

I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit and DOSBox version 0.74 - this is the only problem I have with DOSBox, otherwise it works flawlessly. Could someone help me report this bug to the DOSBox team?

Oh, and I'm using a UK keyboard, with keyboardlayout=uk in the dosbox-0.74.conf file, if that helps?

Sounds like a problem with sdl (you might need to upgrade to development version of the 1.2x branch of sdl). There was another ubuntu problem I think, maybe sound related. Take a search here.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

As an end-user, I think it means waiting for the next release of Ubuntu i.e. version 12.04 LTS and hoping that fixes it.

Are the DOSBox team (or whoever?) aware of this bug? I don't know the technical stuff about DOSBox and I don't know a thing about programming. I use DOSBox for playing my DOS games. This bug is the only problem I've had with DOSBox and I've been using it for years in Windows and then Ubuntu! 😁

Technical explanation, dosbox uses the SDL library for interfacing with the OS and hardware. This sounds more like a bug with SDL than with Dosbox. New ubuntu might not fix that. Use google to find out whether this is a known bug between ubuntu and sdl.

I've been searching, but I can't find anything about this problem.

Any ideas what to do?

I love DOSBox and this is the only glitch I've found with it. I'm sure this glitch could be fixed if it were known about by the right people?
