So I have my backed up roms...I'm using windows 7 and I have installed .74 version listed as Win32 installer. I have a desktop icon and the file I have extracted is in a folder say C:\DOS Games in which there are several. If I add the entire path, I get no where.

I'm using this tutorial and I'm lost http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/MOUNT

am I mounting incorrectly? I'm just lost? One file I have is a .BIN file but should be fine but NOTHING is working...Is there a better tutorial out there?

Thank you

I apologize for being vague, it’s simply something I’m having a hard time understanding. Here is a little more background. (I’ve actually switched the OT file and it no longer is 2- BIN files)

This is for a Christmas present for my wife…2 games she grew up with that I think would be thrilled to play again
Oregon Trail
Gods

I have the DOS files for both which I suppose is where I get lost because I just don’t
There are 21 files with 2 application folders, being Oregon and Install

There are 159 files (in many different formats) extracted for Gods yet I’m still unsure which is the correct file to start with?

What I’ve started with is putting the games in a folder in the C drive.

Here is what I’ve been doing. What am I doing wrong?

I open DOSBox 0.74
I show Z:\>
I type mount c c:\dosgames

I've tried going just C: (enter)

I thing my process is just off. (operator error, ha ha)

I’ve tried the direct path yet I still have issues. (such as this C:\DOSgames\oregon_trail_dos)

So you have your games in C:\DOSgames and you type:
mount c c:\dosgames
C:

What do you see on the screen next? It should be:
C:\>

You said the full path is C:\DOSgames\oregon_trail_dos. Since you mounted C:\DOSgames the folder names after that should be no longer than 8 characters for ease of use. If you use the dir command oregon_trail_dos would appear truncated to oregon~1.

First of all you need to be aware that dos games don't behave as console games. You need to install them and run their executable. So they are not working in dosbox as console games work in a console emulator (no instant loading).
Second find best find your real CD Roms again and start over by following the 60 seconds guide 60 seconds guide to getting your game to run in DOSBox
Start over means, get rid of the game or installation files, at least don't use them when you follow the guide.
