Try it with DOSBox on a real PC. If it works there then it's an issue with the DOSBox port you are using or the DOSBox.conf configuration.

Sorry last message sent incorrectly. apologies i don't know. Just got a new phone and thought it would straight forward as it was on pc. one thing i did try was to run a different exe file to start the program as it said above cm2e8. This should run the 8mb version i presume. When i run that it came back with another error within the program saying another 212k ram needed. A bit odd as my free ram is about 550mb ram. sorry if im being stupid here.

I can confirm it works with both aDOSBox and AnDOSBox. Edit the conf file (aDOSBox: sdcard/app-data/org.hystudio.android.dosbox/.dosbox/dosbox-0.74.conf; AnDOSBox: sdcard/dosbox.conf) and set memsize=16.
CM97 should run, but it's painfully slow on my Galaxy S (@1.252 GHz), even in AnDOSBox, which is the fastest DOSBox port for Android.

Thanks, i amended the .conf file and still get the same problem. do you think downloading the andosbox will make difference?

If you're using aDOSBox (if not, give it a try, it's free), try the attached dosbox-0.74.conf. CM97 runs with these settings, I only changed memsize and the path settings in the autoexec section (remember to change those, too, so that they point to your dosgames dir). By default, the sdcard root directory is mounted as drive C, a pretty bad idea. 😜
The other conf file belongs to AnDOSBox; I've uploaded it in another thread already, but for the sake of convenience, here it is again. I cannot promise that using AnDOSBox will make a difference though, you'll have to decide for yourself if you want to give it a try - it's definitely the best port, but it isn't free.
In both cases, play with cycle settings; try fixed cycles (e.g. 12000), cycles=max causes severe slowdowns sometimes. I haven't had the patience to get past the "Loading Team Data" screen yet, it's loading at a crawl. 😵

DOSBox is great fun on today's phones/tablets, finally there's enough cpu power to run more demanding DOS games. It keeps me alive every morning on the train, I've played through Doom I & II, Warcraft II and Wing Commander I & II already and started crawling through the Stygian Abyss last week. Who needs crappy smartphone games anyway? 😉

Hi, I'm just wondering if you would be able to help. I am trying to get championship manager 9798 working on a galaxy to, but am a step behind as I can't even get the game to load. Every time I try to type the file location into dosbox, it says illegal command? I've tried every way I can think, even putting 'cd' before the location. any help would be appreciated.

Sounds more like your mountings are incorrect. What folder did you copy CM9798 to? Take a look at the [autoexec] section of the conf files I posted above, that should give you a basic idea.
"Illegal command" means you typed something DOS(Box) doesn't understand - either a non-existent filename/command or an existing filename outside the directory it's located in.

I'm running the latest version of andosbox and it wont seem to give me more memory than 4 megs even though in the config file I have specified 16.

Is there something wrong with the new version? I compared my config to yours and it looks the same.
