What about a new one? The thing is, I don't have any, old or new. I would like to get a new one, but not if it will not work. From your post it seems that more than one will work, but I'm wondering if any will work okay. I would have to shop for one, and would like to know, if possible, any that I should look out for, or avoid.

Dominus is right, any new USB game controller should work out of the box. Simply choose one that meets your needs.
