Printing in DOSBox

hmmmm......

I found a few instances of people asking for info on printing in DB but there were no firm answers.

I am running an old Generic CADD program which works well in dosbox BUT I'm not able to shell or print to any ports.

It's been a few years since the 8086 and my DOS is a little rusty. Any printing options other than leaving the BOX and printing from another program? ie. printGL or another plotter emulator.

Thanks

In theory, you could print to a Serial printer, by using the DosBox directserial emulation...

If you had some kind of serial printer emulator, that Windows loaded as a COM port, then you could print to that from DosBox to the emulator, which would then translate to something your real windows printer could handle.

Most DOS printers are parallel though, not serial.

there are a few with both interfaces (My old Okidata OL400e had both), but there were issues with the serial printing - it wasn't as robust. It's also slower... Which is why I suggested an emulator - but I don't know if any exist...

I take it the answer is NO.

Sooooo, I print/Plot/Postscript to a file and then exit DB, run the emulator and send the output to windows printer.

Sounds easy..........NOT.

But again, without DB it would be totaly impossable.

any other suggestions?
