Screen goes blank every once in a while while running DOSBOX

I have all my 3 dos games working great within DOSBOX. However there seems to be an issue when I set the dosbox.conf file to output=surface. Every so often the screen will go blank when I run DOSBOX. I'm setting my screen to fullscreen=true.. I do not get a blank screen when I set output=ddraw. However, the quality of the image is better when using surface.

My hardware is as follows:

CPU= AMD 1700XP
Video card=ATI Radeon 7200
monitor=Acer LCD 19 inch

Do I need to upgrade my video driver again?

Hello. Welcome to the forums.

What videocard do you have. For ATi cards I prefer the overlay setting.

If you do not like filtering (makes image blurry), try openglnb.

Thanks. I tried overlay and have anotyher issue with my dos games. When using surface, the game is centered correctly on the screen. When I use overlay or ddraw the game is moved to the left. Is there a way to get the game centered for overlay?

You may need to adjust your monitor settings using front panel buttons or manually specify a desired resolution in dosbox.conf

E.G

fullresolution=1280x1024
windowresolution=1024x768

The first is for full-screen. Second is for windowed mode.
