I do not know if this topic has been discussed a thousand times before, but I did find nothing pertaining to my problem.

When I want to fire up a game with Petit DOSbox, the program prompts me for an image file. I have only those files which were unpacked from the respective archives. How can I generate such an image file? (I am using Mac OS X)

Help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello JochenKa.

I don't really know what you mean about "image" file. To make Petit dosbox work, just set a path of your Mac OS X computer that will act as the root of the virtual MS-DOS computer, and put your games there if you wish and run them as you would with any other MS-DOS machine.

Anyhow, I you intend to use the "Game Manager" feature (which I should review one day), you must look for .EXE, .BAT and .COM files from within the game's folder. These are MS-DOS executable files.

I'm not really sure if this will help. Let me know if everything goes fine.
