Now I've got DOSbox running I do receive an error message when using some of the characters. This leads to the closure of the used DOS program. Is there a reason for this?
Be more detailed in your description.
I'm not using DOSbox for games, but for an old Symantec database. I still want to keep this database available to be able to take a look at old information. When typing the O or some other characters the program shuts down. I can get the information from the database, but more or less with a d-tour now and then.
Did you try running the program from a NTVDM session (cmd.exe)?

Yes, the program run well, but within a very small window, which can't be maximized.
Why not? Does it use an odd or custom video mode? Did you try ALT-ENTER?
